Yeah I was obsessed with the idea that there are now so many things that could exist everywhere, behind puzzles and secrets, and every time that colorful visual would play it was a huge hit of dopamine. Made you feel like a genius, and the idea that you had the power to do so many things but didn't quite know how to was crazy, and thinking "Whoa, how did I not notice that?" or "Wait I could have done that the whole time?" never gets old.

Yeah, year later and ima be real, this was a really weird and dispiriting way to approach the whole Holy Cross thing, which IMO was brilliant Also, Mort, you probably should have dropped that behind a HEAVY spoiler warning, as the whole point of the Holy Cross is to gate progression behind player knowledge
@marwinjafari50098 ай бұрын
Yeah I enjoyed it too! Was not on par with the rest of the game imo, but was like a whole seperate minigame. I think Tunic might be my favourite game ever, especially for the golden path riddle. If you havent played the Witness, you'll love it if you enjoyed the post game of tunic!
@nebulae523611 ай бұрын
Easily one of my favorite games of all time! Even after 100 hours on it, I still come back every once in a while to re-experience the magic. What it does sets it apart from most other games I’ve played - I can’t get into it much for spoiler reasons but what I can say is, it contains my absolute favorite soundtrack in any game, blew my expectations out of the water especially in the later parts of the game, and made me re-evaluate game design as a whole.
@ersia872 жыл бұрын
I don't know if I'm dumb here, but the puzzles in Tunic are some of the most unique I'v ever experienced. Sure purely mechanically they are repetetive, but discovering them and realizing there's a puzzle there at all it part of the process. And that process is different for each puzzle and I would say makes Tunic unique. Then of course, some people might not realize how many and how grand the hidden puzzles get and might never experience them. I finished the game without solving the biggest puzzle of all. I'm doing it now though. It is brain bending to think there's even such a puzzle in any game at all. It's truly unique.

This game’s design was out of this world, and pretty much outclasses almost every AAA title today. One of the best games of the last 10 years, absolutely.
@chasesmay72373 ай бұрын
Yeah the use of an isometric viewpoint hides so, so many secrets. Once you start seeing how it’s done, you find so many more without any hand-holding whatsoever. The world design puts most AAA games like it to shame. The exploration and atmosphere are some of the best I’ve had in gaming, peroid

I simply don't see a problem paying $30 or even $60 for a shorter game if that playtime is dense, which, in the case of Tunic, I would say is the case. Most long games in my experience have just been loaded with padding.
@scullyy2 жыл бұрын
It does a good job emulating what it was like playing games as a kid, not understanding the language. Elden Ring too revived some of that sense of wonder that's been lost over the years, simply by having so little hand holding. To me it confirms that modern video game development focus way too much on having everything be immediately understandable. Quest markers pointing exactly where to go. Tutorials that take away absolutely all the mystery of figuring shit out yourself.

Tutorals.. i think knowing what button does what would suffice but ive seen tutorials as an option that can be turned on and off.. which is nice like you can turn it off at any time.. so you can get the basics and the jist of it and just go..also elden ring does bring things back for me to.. a l9t of oldness.. even geanblue fantasy relink brought me back to some good ole rpgs that i enjoyed. Graphically so beautiful i really enjoy it. Still in post game took a break for awhile.. also ill throw out there immortals of aveeum. Brought back some stuff too.. but better. Great story also really enjoy it. Bout to get back into that one. I also got sea of stars.. havent really played yet though. Finishing up a few things first.. also a shorter game and also brings back some old school rpgs and has the classic look but enhanced on ps5.. looks great.. i think i. Really going to enjoy it.. ive been looking for stuff like this.. obvious one.. d2 resurrected brought back a lot also.. i just wish you could download 1 onto console.. i miss that game. 2 is pretty good by all means but the first one is different in a better way and it changes a little bit the more times you go through. Different variations of the story. U would live to see that enhanced. To me it would bl8w 2 out of the water in a lot of ways.. but both great games. A modern version of like crono trigger or ff3 would be frickin awesome with that kind of an epic story.. just better graphics..

I enjoyed it, got all the pages and the good ending but didn't bother with every puzzle. Have always love the early SNES Zelda games like Link to The Past so really liked this game even if some of the final puzzles were a bit of a chore. Would recommend to any Zelda gamer as I would Deaths Door which is similar.

As an aside I started playing Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children because you had brought up you're gonna review it. I'm already 80 hours in and not even close to 100%ing might take awhile my dude! Great game so far (starts a little easy/slow but ramps up in a big way).
@Applemangh Жыл бұрын
I got it a couple weeks ago and I'm loving it. Admittedly, there were a lot of puzzles that I really only figured out what I WOULD need to do to get the solution, and then saved myself the trouble and just looked it up. That said, the process of figuring out how to solve some of the puzzles was still really satisfying. This game also seems really well suited to multiple playthroughs, since starting a fresh file after you already know everything gives a lot of possible approaches to change up the experience, and it comes with a new game plus so you can start out with end game equipment if you really want to.

It's the kind of thing that 20 years ago would have been one of my favourite games on Game Boy Advance or whatever was about then (DS?). But now that we're awash with indie games only a download away, along with review videos, it feels a little meh.

Nice review as always. The game is enjoyable and cute, there's no denying. But as for the playtime, I'd say normal player would probably lean more on the 12-14h. Not that longer than your 10h, but still à 20% increase at least, so I guess it's worth noting :)

Loved your review. Got to say I enjoyed the game up to a point. Sense of exploration and discovery around the world is great but the combat is simplistic and it makes some of the bosses a bit of a pain. As you say, once I completed it I didn't feel the need to complete all the puzzles for the true ending - didn't even realise the puzzles existed until really late on!

Another great review Mortym! Thanks so much for the fresh new content every day! It is nice to have a short game to 100%. Right now, I have a logjam of games still yet to 100% that will take dozens if not hundreds of hours each to 100%. On its own I would play it, but it is doubtful it can get into the 100% queue which is already packed with 76 games in my Steam Library ahead of it :) The nice thing is, for all those 76 games, there are videos for all of them in your channel, which is fantastic! The biggest challenge is to choose which game to 100% next?

After seeing your video, I remembered playing some sort of demo, at some point. It was kind of "meh," imo. Not that it's bad, but time spent in any game is time not spent in a better game, given most people's limited gaming time. As a result, I find that there are a lot of" OK" games like this that I'll never play; way too many better games out there that I struggle to find time for. Thanks for the content.👍
