An MSPA Fan a physics teacher made that joke in high school and I was one of the students *actually* found it funny. maybe mostly because he actually had the interest in making that joke and saw it through to the awkward silence that he anticipated- and with a cheeky smile. so I always relish the opportunity when I can share it, particularly when someone else does find it funny :)

Sick beats. In all seriousness though, this was a very helpful video for understanding resonance and beating, thank you.

What difference in frequencies will create the most audible beats? Why do you not get beats when plucking two strings on a guitar?

What's the name of that property? It only applies to metals or could replicate with other materials?

The secondary tuning-fork, when in 'sympathy', appears to resonate at a significantly less volume than the primary. Is this correct, or was it just that the microphone was not fully capturing it? Thanks.

Could this principle have been applied in ancient times in energetic systems in order to wirelessly transmit a frequency? Ex. a pyramid and an obelisk (made from the same quartz crystal material) Just an idea.

Hi may I know the specs of the tuning fork and the dimensions of the box? Thanks Badly need your help
@bethroberts33
@bethroberts33 9 жыл бұрын
lala gee You only need a small difference in frequencies rather than specific frequencies for the tuning forks. If your tuning forks are the same frequency then the observer can walk across the room in front of them to hear the beats. The box dimensions are not too specific either, as they simply amplify the sound. You can even forget the boxes and rest the handles of each tuning fork on a table or other surface.

Beth Roberts Hi thanks for the response. If i happen to prepare a set up of resonance using a hanging pingpong ball, is there a specific frequency required? If I use identical tuning forks of 516 Hz , will the pingpongball bounce more or higher compared to a set up using 256 Hz tuning forks? Thanks

can you connect both tuning forks with a wire and resonate them there is hieroglyph in Egypt with two tuning forks and wire connecting both and if they added copper tubes they could drill resonance holes in granite maybe that what Egyptians use sound vibrations to lift heavy granite stone blocks and cut them and build the pyramids with tuning forks and sound technology we need to re-discover this Ancient lost technology to do the same in today's world :)

they made the forks resonant with natural forces, this would cause a current between the wires. free electricity.
