LOJ does a amazing kit, it's not cheap upfront but it saves so many headaches and little purchases down the road it is worth it. If you get a chance check out Matt from Sloppy Mechanics swap videos. the kit is as close to OEM as you'll find.

Fantastic build!! I wish I had gone with LOJs swap kit. Instead I decided to do it all on my own and worked myself into a pickle. Stephen helped me out of it with his LSX swap harness and C6 Corvette PCM to use with my LS3. Other parts I used in my setup was the Collins CD09 transmission adapter, LSX swap longtube headers and AAM dual 3 inch exhaust system. Everything else I fabricated on my own with help of a friend. I'm proud of my build but I could've saved a lot of time if I had ordered LOJs kit! Hindsight is 20/20 LOL

Now that is a tastily modified Z. I can't honestly say that I've ever seen a cleaner engine swap. I agree that the VQ has it's many flaws, but for the price and bang for your buck, you just can't beat the power and reliability of the LS.

Years ago like 23 I had an 82 cutlass with a sbc 350 turbo 350 tran and a lincoln versiles 9 inch with mini spool n truck 3.70 gears. Was baddest daily driver in my town but the weak links in the old school 350 turned me to a 351w Maverick now. I found a near mint box S10 blazer and Its gonna be Windsor or LS. Does LS head bolts go into water?

Actually,the stock package in the vehicle can link that entire track. Check out Taylor Ray in his Z he absolutely rips in it. Honestly though, nothing on an ls swap.

Bigger main and head bolts and no starter issues and no head bolts in water and larger dia lifters and so on is why a 351w is better than a 350 mouse. But may try a 6.2 LS. What year and truck should I look at.

Can you go into some detail why you target 12:1 AFR on a gas NA engine? Even with 10% Ethanol, Stoich is around 14.04:1, so I'd expect something closer to 13:1 for best power on an NA engine, with 13.5:1 for 0% Ethanol.

I would say for the endurance aspects of a slightly richer AF ratio would be the reason. Look at how it is driven, wide open most of the time!

I dont see why to ditch the vq, they can make some power with some work, theres a drag g35 that makes 2000hp and ran a 6.46 at the quarter mile. With some work and turbos you can get 550hp out of it, plenty for drifting.

There is no comparison between the NA response and immediate TQ V8 vs. smaller FI motor. It’s kinda amazing and typically more predictable power curve.

Yeah, probably easier to drives especially with that steering angle. Thats gotta help. But idk about better sound, i personally love the sound of a vq, but i do see what your saying about low end torque. Probably easier to work on too vs a vq.

Want to be even more cost effective? Leave the nissan engine in it :D Jokes aside it makes sense in the US to use an ls engine,( for more power, and or old engine was bad/blown) with all the swap kits and decent priced brand new crate engines. I like that they kept a lot of stuff from the original car. Im also glad to see more naturally aspirated car builds.
