What’s up guys so I was always scared to through on a rbc cause of your comment lol I thought it was gonna be the waste of the 400$ for a rbc I paid 230 lol but anyways I had got dyno tuned with just exhaust header and cai I made 213hp with 168 tq (greddy 2.36) exhaust and a dtr header, I went back to my tuner with a hks 65mm and a skunk 2 header and that rbc with a spacer to still use my stock throttle body, I ended up getting all that retuned and made 227hp with 185tq similar to what this guy made I just made about 10 tq more, so pretty much saying in my case the rbc did a lot for me , I made a bunch of more torque just cause of that , and during the tune we did a run to see how much I was making with the rbc untuned I made 220 right off the back, so you do make a tiny bit of power without tuning it but once you tune it you gain a bit more and a lot of more torque so getting it tuned helps a lot!!

Hope this helps anyone looking for direct answers like I was.

You can use a A2 or Z1 head. They're the same cast, the Z1 has the better cams, but it's been noted, as you wrote, that the TSX cams in either of those heads produces about an additional 10hp over the A2 cams, maybe 5hp over the Z1 cams.

Its getting a turbo kit soon!
@ShredCulture4 жыл бұрын
The higher angles increase overlap and help with scavenging until very high rpm where the cam angles may want to be retarded to take advantage of the air inertia and the ram air effect. If this was a turbo application I would expect less cam advance in the mid range due to backpressure from the exhaust system. The k24 and k20 share almost the same bore only the k24 has a longer stroke making it undersquare. The k20 may rev higher but the peak torque figure would be less. The k24 may make more torque but at a lower rpm. Thus, both engines can have roughly the same hp but their torque figures can be quite different. If the k24 made its peak torque at the same rpm as the k20, the k24 would make more power mathematically. However the K24 being undersquare, limits the maximum rpm lower than that of the k20. Also, the K24 head is designed to be most efficient and operate at a lower rpm, thus any larger increase in rpm may net a decrease in torque. If you can safely get the k24 to rev like the k20 then fitting a k20 head to the k24 may be beneficial.

I absolutely don’t understand why tuners don’t provide the “Area under the Power curve” results when doing a like vs like (engines, intake, exhaust system, etc) comparison. If you provide the area number, you are actually providing the work done by the engine over your chosen rpm range, say 4k to 7.5k or whatever rpms you want to play with. It is probably a more scientific quantitative result in a single figure then just looking at peak torque or hp numbers at arbitrary rpms.
@tuningbynick2 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if you’re complaining about this video or in general. A dyno graph is the best visual way to represent “area under the curve” I always show the dyno graphs in my videos and in this video i show/compare the graphs between the 2 different engines which visually shows the area under the curve for both engines as a comparison. It really doesn’t get much better than that.
@Adscam2 жыл бұрын
@@tuningbynick Thank you Nick for replying. Could you please integrate (Calculus or graft paper) the power vs rpm curve. That would give you the Work done by the engine over its rpm range and a feature other people don’t do. It is an extra step for you. But I think modern dynos/software can do that for you. I do see that you tune very nice flat torque curves. My Main Point is when comparing 2 headers for instance, one is good for low and mid rpm. The other shows lousy low end but a better peak hp. So which is better, obviously the one that allows the engine to make more work. Hence the “Area under the Power Curve”.
@Adscam2 жыл бұрын
@@tuningbynick You showed clearly the hp and torque curve vs rpm. Thank you. I am asking you to show the work done over a rpm range.
@tuningbynick2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately what youre asking for is simply not how it works and if it was possible i honestly dont believe youd be able to actually use the information youre asking for effectively. I stand by my original statement that the the actual visual representation of the dyno graph line is the best way to represent the power under the curve. Having lots of data points may sound like a good idea, but in practice i dont think it would actually be useful to anyone unless these were highly scientific controlled dyno tunes where we were individually testing only one part at a time - Then yes, it would be useful to get that specific to evaluate the gains/loses of the individual different parts

I'd say it would benefit from 30~32 ° VTC . Usually if a K sees an increase at the max stock 25° it will benefit from the 50° gear. I've had a K lay down the 250's @7800 @ 35° VTC
@tuningbynick4 жыл бұрын
Agreed - This engine can definitely benefit from the 50° gear

would it make a difference to throw a k20 head on top of that k24?
@tuningbynick4 жыл бұрын
The K20 Head might make a bit more power with these 06 TSX cams - But I dont think the cost of swapping the head would be worth the minimal gain

Chase Kephart - Typically a stock TSX engine cant benefit from VTC set that high. But there are always exceptions. If I can find some time I’ll be installing a 50° wheel, retune it and do another video for everyone with the results
@chaserevstuning92715 жыл бұрын
@@tuningbynick I've tuned several and they benefit, but it depends on the exhaust side of things. They all been free flowing exhausts. 9th gens definitely do not benefit from it. Normally I set vtc to 45 then test lower or higher.

why is a k20a2 worth more then a TSX k24a2?
@tuningbynick5 жыл бұрын
GEAR HEAD - My guess is because the K20A2 is getting old now and becoming pretty rare and I believe Honda made a lot more K24A2’s by comparison. So I think it boils down to simply availability
@gearhead35005 жыл бұрын
@@tuningbynick so is it worth getting a k20a2 now will they continue to go up in value?
@tuningbynick5 жыл бұрын
GEAR HEAD - Nope. The K24A2 has so much more potential. You’re better off getting one then before the become rare and expensive
@josiahbutler22545 жыл бұрын
the k20a2 is getting worth more because a lot more guys are putting their k20 heads on the k24s now, the k24 is the better engine & its a proven fact they respond better to MODS

What exhaust?
@tuningbynick5 жыл бұрын
Kevin Ly - it’s a custom 2.5” straight through exhaust. It’s not a good one tho. Lots of bad joints/welds in it.
