Remember, "haju" is one of our senses, "kuulo, näkö, maku, haju, tunto". In that meaning it is neutral, word haju has no negative or positive meaning.

We kinda do the same in English with the words 'aroma' and 'odour' where the former is typically good and the latter is typically bad.

Great stuff. One question though. If I wanna get figurative and say that a movie stinks, which expression do I use? It's haisee right? Lemua?

No that doesn't work in Finnish. Unless you mean the movie theatre itself stinks. You can't say something stinks unless it really has a bad smell. You could say the movie was "huono"
