Hi
I made a simple bar bender for my own use.
Because i have small shop, i wanted to integrate it to my table.
Drilled holes trough two 7mm thick mild steel plates and my wooden 50mm thick table, at the same time.
Plate on top of the table is threaded, and lower plate is bolted to it throught table with 12 bolts.
Easy to expand later with templates with different shapes and radiuses.
Tools used:
Evolution evosaw 355 chop saw
Evolution evosaw 230 circular saw
Evolution evomag 50 mag drill.
www.evolutionpo...
Angle grinder & random orbital sander.
Kemppi mls 3000 tig.

I've been looking for an elegant but flexible design for a bar bender and this one is the best I've seen. A lot of drilling and some welding with my everlast.

Hi ... Didn't mean to be critical and I always appreciate people who make an effort to provide info for other diyers ... I just meant to say that your process, a really good way, is just not possible for people such as myself who is online searching for a truly "simple" way of bending a few rods. But thanks for your response ...
5 жыл бұрын
Yep. I know. But this idea can be simplified too. Just drill couple holes to thick enough board and stick pieces of rod to them. Then use crowbar to make the bend. Bending a rod doesn't actually need many tools at all. Do you have a vise?

Don't have a clue what you were doing, but you did it so well. I wish you had voice instructions along with your vid, something I might consider trying, not so much to make what you made, but to utilize your skills in the productions of other things. I had Shop in the 8th grade over 40 yrs ago covering some of your skills, enjoyed it, but forgot most of it. Watching you made me want ot revisit this again. Thanks for posting!!!

In my job, we make componets for paper machines, gas turbines, windmills, propulsion systems... Focus is in big objects with small toleranses and high quality welding reguirements. One of a kind builds or small series. That gives good possibility to learn new things every day. 😊

Great work, exceptionally versatile machine! But those bolts locking the pins in look like a pain. Have you considered grooving the pins at the appropriate heights, then using thread in spring loaded ball detents? Just a wee tap and you can adjust them in either direction. You've already got tapped holes, so there's nothing to installing them.

Great job, but why the need for the holes to be layer out in an arc?
6 жыл бұрын
Scratchthejeepguy No "need" its just easier to get them symmetrical. Also it gives more distance options between "centerblock" and "support". If you place centerpoint somewhere in the arc, those "aid holes" ain't so far away than they would be if holes we're in four straight lines.

no dude, those are not smooth edged blades made for mild steel. stop making up bullshit when you admit you dont know wtf yr talking about. and the hend-held, hand-fed, large-toothed nature of a circular saw is inherently wrong for mild steel. he's lucky he didnt bind the blade and shatter it. he obviously has zero training, or at least training from someone who also doesnt know wtf theyre doing. these are the kinda stupid shortcuts that keep insurance costs through the roof for employers (and therefore you wages lower)
@ArcaneTinker
@ArcaneTinker 6 жыл бұрын
Ghryst VanGhod the Evo saws are designed to cut metal. I have used them on a professional capacity as a sheet metal worker. They are loud and they don't feel right to plow into metal, but that is what they were designed to do and they seem to do just fine. That being said, they are too pricey to be found in my workshop, I will stick with my portaband and my cut off disks in my angle grinder for a few more years
