How to make a Flat bar/Round bar bender for almost free!! DIY bender fabrication!! Cheap!!!

On this episode of Mad Ginger Customs we show you how to build a Flat bar/ Round bar bender from items laying around or stuff you can get at a local hardware store! Follow along with this DIY guide to getting a bender built on the cheap! Jess gets in on this one with testing and quality control!
Dimensions are as follows:
2 1/2"x 2 1/2 "x 3/8" for the base. You can use 2"x2" really, but I use what I have!
Pins are 1/2" Round bar
Main block pin 3 1/4" long
Arm pin 2 3/4" long
Main block pin width on center 1 5/16"
Arm pin width on center 1 5/16"
Arm flat bar length 6"
Arm round bar length 30"
Arm hole from end on center 1/2"
Material totals:
1/2" round bar= 9" total
2.5" or 2", 3/8" thick flat bar= 8.5"
1" black pipe= 30"

Yes, this project works fine for very small 'products' and very, very thin materials. That weld on the bottom of those pins and including those pins' thickness themselves are ONLY for small materials. If you're looking at bending 3/8" rebar or thicker, this will break and bend those pins on the first attempt. I've made several of these 'benders' and you need deep penetration onto where the pins are being welded - period. Nice project overall for very light material.

I have only used it for exhaust hangers and some other smaller strap and its been working great! I build a press brake on the channel and big stuff goes in that!

A little tip for those looking to build this, lots of stuff you bend may not need the 30" handle. Make one about 20" and just have a piece of pipe you can slide over the end if needed.

Just made this tool out of scrap laying around my garage. Welded 1/4" plate together for the flat pieces. For the studs I used 1/2" grade 8 bolts and cut the heads/threaded parts off. So far I've gotten it to bend up to 1/4" thick 1-1/2" wide flat bar with little effort. One modification I did make was welding the studs on both sides since they were becoming misaligned when bending. Doing the extra weld seemed to help prevent bending. I placed my studs 1/2" apart.
