How to build a DIY Sheet metal Roller

I really thought a lot about how to build a sheet metal rolling machine as simply as possible. I think I succeeded really well. It was important to me that it wasn't too complicated and that it could be rebuilt with simple tools, like my DIY sheet metal bending machine.
SheetMetalBender: • DIY Sheet Metal Bender... I also made sure that it wasn't too big or too heavy because my workshop is very small. Of course I made sure that I could screw it onto my DIY Welding table.
Best WeldingTable: • Welding Table Build wi... I am very pleased with the results of the test bends with aluminum and sheet steel. Thicker materials also worked well.
Some people were probably wondering what kind of Tig torch it was.
Because health plays a big role for me. I currently have a TigTorch with welding fume extraction in use. And I have to say I'm impressed.

very nice build. a few possible improvements: - being able to bring the lower rollers closer together = tighter curves & less flat waste at the ends of pieces - harder/hardened surface on rollers to reduce wear - grooves in the ends of rollers to enable forming of small tube

Nicely done. if you weld in a v shape under the top roller it vill be easier to align back in after you remove the workpiece and a chamfer on the rod then you just have to set it down and push. impressive build bravo

Dirk, wau... das ist glaube das geilste Projekt von Dir. Erinnert mich an meine Ausbildung zum Kessel-und Behälterbauer. Da hatten wie in jeder Ecke 3-Walzen Rundbiegemaschinen von klein bis fett (25mm Bleche). An meiner Prüfung mußte ich ein Übergangsstück von viereckig auf rund herstellen und auch eine konischen Stutzen für einen Kessel. Mit 24er-Teilung. Lang ist es her.... Mit meinen 54 Jahre im Metallhandwerk finde ich es handwerklich faszinierend umgesetzt. Denke da gibt mir jeder "Schlosser" Recht. Was mir vor allen Dingen gefällt, das Du es nicht maschinenbaumässig umsetzt (CNC Plasma etc...), sonder so wie es der gelernte Schlosser/Metallbauer macht. Mit den Mitteln die man in der Werstatt hat. Da soll einer sagen es gibt kein "Made in Germany" Du legst Dir Deine eigene Messlatte extrem hoch..😉

Das ist mal ein verdammt gut durchdachtes Gerät 🙂👍 Als Nutensteine für die Stirnräder die Inbus-schraubenköpfe zu nutzen...auf so Ideen muss man erstmal kommen 🙈 Aber wie immer richtig schön gebaut und tolles Produkt. Der Absaugbrenner sieht ganz schön riesig aus aber scheint gut was an Rauch wegzuziehen 🙌 Wenn du die untere Lagerschraube länger nimmst unter der Mittelwalze, könnest du mit einer eingekerbten Mutter sogar noch eine Ablage machen. Freu mich auf jeden Fall schön auf das nächste Video 👀🤗

I like your design. Cool technique with the belt sander! Overall you're an awesome person to watch. Very clean workspace and it's apparent through your craftsmanship that you're a patient and precise person. I have a design question./suggestion. I was wondering why you chose flange bearings? It seems like with your shaft and tube roller construction, you could have gone with interference fit radial bearings. That'd allow you to get the rollers closer, which would result in less 'flat' from rolling ops. It might also be cheaper to buy quality radial bearings rather than a whole flange bearing. But if there's something I'm overlooking feel free to clue me in. I like your use of sprocket drive too, it'd be really easy to get some gear reduction. I'm planning to build a similar roller, but for bit heavier applications. Probably 60mm tube for the rollers, and some kind of gear reduction system so I can roll 4mm thick 5052. Alsoalso, check out Acme thread! It's awesome stuff for this application. Subscribed!

This is a symetrc roller; mostly used for small size rollers is an a-symetric model. In this model: the driven rollers are to far apart; that leaves too much waste material. When the driven rollers are on the right distance (alsmost against each other) then the chain is not needed and can be replaced with a third gear wheel.

Hi, ja doch finde in nicht schlecht klar größer und etwas unhandlich ist er natürlich aber lange nicht so wie man es denk. Und meisten legt man den Arm und hand eh irgendwo auf dann merk man es kaum. Und er saug auch gut ab ein Großteil vom rauch bekommt er aber gerade beim wechseln der Positionen wenn das Bauteil noch nach qualmt muss man immer etwas warten.
