Turbine Wheels for 1965 Mustang Restomod

The 1965 Mustang Restomod is almost complete. These turbine wheels should be a nice upgrade for the car. This restomod has been in the works for over two years. The Mustang will soon be all one color. Hopefully after its reassembled, the 1965 looks good.
She's not a Mustang GT or a Mach 1, or GT500, or a 65 Mustang Fastback. Nope, she's a simple straight 6 but I love her. Maybe someday she'll get a coyote engine swap. I was going to do a floor pan replacement, but this turns into a simple floor pan repair. Still, it's tough to do without welding.

YEEESSSSSS!!! You got the wheels! Just drop down a tire size or two in the front. If what you have are 70 series tires, just drop to a 60 series. That will give you the clearance you need. Man does it look SOOOOOO much better! Definitely the ticket!!!

With your duster of check the vacuum advance timing and that tge distributer is set at the the correct degrees. A body mopar forums is a great resource for darts valiants and dusters

Just popped up on my feed. Have a '76 Valiant sedan I got for free from the original owner. 88k miles, solid, V8 car. Even on pristine condition, it's not desirable or worth dumping stupid money in. I run old cop car wheels w/AMC "Volcano" centers and black-wall, 60-series Bridgestones that were on sale at Costco. It does have 12" front rotors, A38 cop car suspension, certified speedo and HD service vehicle cooling. My cattle dog loves that car-

Really like those wheels. I think the tires are a bit oversized for my tastes. But it is not my car, so if you like them that is all that matters. It was great hearing the old duster run again.

Those wheels make a world of difference. The body height on your Mustang is perfect , so the wheels fill up all the fender well nicely. Your Mustang is looking great. Just subscribed.

Damn those wheels look good. Also I have a 68 6 cylinder. If you ever want disc brakes, wilwood makes a 4 lug kit that is awesome. You can also get any 5 lug kit and just slap a 5 lug to 4 lug adapter. Finally just made the purchase as driving around for 3 years with manual drum brakes was enough hahahahah.

One thing you could do to go with the rest of the car is to get some wider steel wheels. So take the steelies you took off to a place and have them made wider. Like 7 in. Then slap some meaty BFG Radial T/As on them.

I had thought about getting some turbines for my 66, and Im really glad someone else had the same idea, the 'stang looks amazing!! You are literally the only person ive found whos put turbines on a first gen. What size are those wheels? Id love to get some 5 lugs but just like you thats an upgrade for the future lol

Consider changing your tyres before butchering your guards, rolling kinda sucks to be honest. There's a big difference in offset and those tyres are specced to have a lot of bulge. Running a flat sidewall or even a little bit of stretch should make a world of difference to your clearance. Been there many times myself. Depending on the thickness of the center mount of the wheels, it may even be possible to machine off some material from the back to decrease the offset, giving you the clearance you need. I also wonder about the rolling diameter compared to stock, because it rides really high and that lack of clearance in the tub suggests it's bigger than stock. If it isn't the same, you'll need to get your speedo adjusted. I like the wheel design, but that amount of rubber looks weird when it's not tucked under the guards and the car rides so high. It's good progress though.

Thanks for the advice. I manages to roll just the front edge of the wheel well and it gave me plenty of clearance for now. I'll have to see if any rubbing happens once its hitting bumps on the road.

Car is looking awesome man. I’m Curious to know what size tire that is that you ended up putting on? Im not a huge car guy but I was just gifted a 65 coupe with the inline 6 and it needs a lot of work. I am having a horrible time trying to find tires. Currently have 205/70R13 on it. Have been looking for a 14” rim with the 4 bolt pattern to get a similar look to yours. The setup I have looks horrible. Great job on the videos as well. Keep ‘em coming.

Not sure yet. I'm not committed to the slant 6. I think with this one I eventually will put in a V-8.

I’d love to find a set of wheels like that but I’m ok with what are on mine with how hard 4 lugs are to find.
