Second,install an injector nozzle between the carb and turbo and add fuel thru there via a selinoid and WOT switch. You can jet that up or down to match whatever boost level you plan to run.

@hotrod79382 жыл бұрын
You want the primary to grab at roughly 3500 rpm with that v twin. Reduce primary flyweights or add spring until it does. This will get it right into boost. Next time on Dyno watch your peak hp rpm. You want to be 10% over at the finish line. This can be done with the secondary spring adjustment. Make that exhaust pipe longer so it doesn't gas you. AN fittings good 😊

If you don't have an oil regulating orifice on the turbo oil feed, the pressure will be too high and damage seals quickly. Your oil return line shouldn't experience so much pressure to blow off.

Wow Supporter For Showing Love Congratulations You've Been Selected Among My Shortlisted Winners 🎉.

Oil return line is seeing pressure because of crankcase pressure, not oil pressure. Journal bearing do not need a restrictor. I’ve built many cars with journal bearing turbos and no restrictor. What you need is a good flowing drain and adequate crank case ventilation.

@ralphhondaman2 жыл бұрын
Another thing I'll throw out there. I've built quite a few small turbo motors and one thing is if it's a journal bearing turbo then they don't require a lot of oil. And with boost you'll have lots of bottom end pressure so you need a big crank vent put a catch can on it. If you have to much bottom pressure the oil will have a hard time returning from the turbo which the it can push past the seals then burn the oil.
@mahlonblowers47272 жыл бұрын

@bryduhbikeguy pointed out that your turbo return line is way to small, and he is correct. You need to increase the size of your return to at least 3/8 if not 1/2" inside diameter. I left my original comment below not to try to hide what my original thought was. If you have too much base pressure, the solution is not to seal it up and lock your hoses on better, the solution should be to lower the base pressure with more / bigger vents. You lines should also be secure, but you need to get rid of that pressure.
@bryduhbikeguy2 жыл бұрын
A larger diameter return line will help drop the pressure.The fitting into the block is way too small.It acts as a funnel and pressure builds there.

I was able to see that the torque converter does not complete it's full travel until about 7500 rpm. You changed the gear and then took away the CVT cam. The ideal gear might be the one that didn't fit. Oh yeah, John, a word with you in private please. At 7:30 you mentioned the dragster was expensive...enough of that! It's the no boost/idle launches that killing it.... hold the brake and give it just a little throttle (not much) just to build the slightest boost

They've been told this ad nauseum. They chose to ignore the advice. I'm very surprised it ran in the 7's though. So kudos to them for making progress. If you're not making mistakes, you aren't making progress either. They have learned a bit lately.

I bet hitting the turbo directly with a tiny nitrous fogger shot should build up the boost quicker. I've seen a few turbo cars use nitrous just to help build boost quicker. Love this little dragster😀
@jacquescrusan95002 жыл бұрын
if you're blowing the return line off of the turbo, then I'd definitely troubleshoot that. I know you stated that you're tearing the engine apart (good on you), but for future runs, I'd definitely look into a possible solution for Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV). When it's happened to me, it's been mostly due to blow-by in the crankcase exceeding what the stock PCV system can handle. I've personally solved this by running a small electric vacuum pump with a vacuum break valve set at 14" of water/H2O. Don't get me wrong; reinforced lines *will* help you in this area. I'm sure of it. But that still won't fix the potential root of the problem.
@tylerwebb49272 жыл бұрын
Yall need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator for fuel control. That way at idle its not flooding but under power it increases the fuel based off of boost pressure.

If it was the oil pressure Guage line again, use a copper line. The plastic line they come with is the worst thing you can ever use. I would think Ike would of known not to use it. Also make a small oil pan under the engine like a real drag car uses and line it with the absorbent mats used for floors. Thar said, the rail is running great, put a main jet in the oil feed line of the turbo to restrict the amount of oil going into the turbo and that will help with the oil seals in the turbo. Running methanol threw the turbo probably doesn't help with the life of the turbo either. Why not brake out the fuel injection setup you tried a few years ago on the drift trike? Might need to use bigger injectors but at least then you could run it after the turbo. Whatever you do turn the boost up I want to see a 6 at 100mph

It’s not part of racing when you have no business taking the next step past the dyno. They were nvr ready to leave the dyno and still are not. They are chasing problems they don’t even have yet. They don’t have a gearing problem or launching problem or any them. They have a problem:leaving the dyno knowing well and sure the thing is not right aka not ready for a track day. Period. Our tracks must be different here because you can’t run socks on your carbs. It’s a fire hazard. Backfire hazard. It’s a clear indicator that the engine is a hazard. Two tracks down.
