If you're going with a Raylar Engineering crankshaft it would be great to see the big block get a 4.750 crank. Torque production would be insane.

You should do an in depth video of the setup now. I have an 8.1 in a 3500 and would love a bit more power without having to swap everything in the truck. I'd be happy with the low boost numbers.

I think you should disable the wastegate and give it all the boost that s480 will throw at it before you pull it that's for sure. For science and entertainment purposes of course.

Lawrence!! I can wait to see this turbo 8.1 evolution!! I have followed from the start and this is great! I own a single cab longed 4x4 (2500HD), wich originally came with the 6.0/4L80e combo.... I swapped it to a Kodiak Topkick drive train about 10 years ago.... it now has an 8.1L/Allison 5 speed combo.... and I installed a 273xhd t-case, wich typically are found in an F550, to eliminate the GM T-case oil pump rub issue.... I still love my pickup, but I always was so curious about a set of Raylar heads and a turbo setup.... living here in CA I never pursued that endeavor considering it was difficult enough to get through the smog referee and finish with a legal pickup. .... I can't tell you how excited I am for your build! Thank you so much for the great education, and fantastic content! LT TV is for me!

I live in a fairly hot climate and was constantly having to stop and let the engine cool down even just from normal driving. I think your torque could be fairly accurate. Richard Holdner ran a stock 8.1 with a Gen 6 cable driven throttle body using the Holly H.P. tuner batch fired because the 8.1 is half an LS. Running e85 fuel and 80 pound injectors. Summit S465 Turbo and water to air intercooler. 6.2 pounds of boost. He netted 840 ftlbs at the crank so 13 pounds of boost depending on your set up should easily push you into 1100 ftlbs at the crank. So 910 seems possible.

583 and 904 at 13 lbs? Not too shaby, it'll just go up from there with all the other modifications that you mentioned. Now, for a comment completely unrelated to the video: I know you were looking for a specific hood for the stepside (I think the same as in the ugly truck, but nicer), I was thinking: Why don't you swap hoods, fix that one up for the stepside and put the ugly hood in the ugly truck until you get the specific one that you're looking for and even then, it probably won't be in the greatest condintion, but it would be going on the ugly truck, so it's all good!!! Just a thought when saw you opening the hood on this video. Thumbs up!!!

Hey hey digging the channel. Why not for the time being, throw in a big cam to go racing with a make another 100+ hp? Also with the new engine is seems like a quite complicated build, why not keep the stock displacement ( 8.1 is a lot) and maximize air flow and rpm, and put in forged parts? Seems like that would be much more simple and less costly, and you’d still reach the goal… either way… can’t wait to see this progress

I love you videos I love you builds it's very very cool hopefully I can find an lsa for myself that's not too expensive otherwise I'm probably going to go with a torque storm which I know is a totally different kind of boost than I was going for but boost is boost and my truck already does pretty much what I need it to do and I've got other toys to buy with my poor government salary. I was wondering something because I have a 2011 with the Z71 package so it's got the g80 rear diff and I've heard that they're notoriously weak and I really need four by four for what I do on the weekends but I really like the idea of all wheel drive do you have any idea if I switched all-wheel drive like you have on the 4.8 if it would be much different from four wheel drive I'm not rock crawling or anything but I get into a lot of mud and snow. Also if you think that g80 would be able to survive spirited driving with like 450 horsepower and torque to the wheels from a dig?

Do you recommend re-gapping and to what number? * One of each a 1996 Silverado dually and 1999 C3500HD with 7.4Ls * Two 2001 C3500HD and a 2004 Sierra with 8.1Ls. I wonder if there was a bulletin out there for re-gapping these Big Block. Will regapping need any other tuning to balance mixture/ratio? Will regapping improve my emissions? Yes, I’m in Cali. The ARB is crazy out here. Oooor! Should I just leave everything as is, stock specs? Will that promote truck Longevity? Thank You for Sharing the Knowledge Big Brother.

@adambriscoe022 жыл бұрын
I have historically observed that, all things being equal, if a turbo is too large for an engine combination, the engine will make a considerably higher HP number than torque. You see this a lot with big turbo 4 cylinders. If the turbo is perfectly sized for an engine combination, the HP and torque will be pretty close to the same. However if the turbo is too small for an engine combination, the torque numbers will be really high in comparison to the HP. Now, if the engine without boost made far more torque than HP due to an insufficient cam then it's probably just a continuation of the starting point
