FYI, OEM catch cans (nissan and volvo at least do these) are always mounted on or very close to the head/block and the reason for that is that they're hot, and they should be hot, it keeps the moisture in suspension and stops it condensing out. Then it can breath out and go away. You can also artificially heat the catch can, I think a few companies make catch cans that have a coolant circuit through them to achieve this. DO IT. You don't have a problem to solve in the engine, you have a problem to solve in your breather system, so don't worry about the engine misbehaving temperature wise.

Is it just me, or does an OM606 improve any car it's in? :3
@TheLtVoss3 жыл бұрын
Well the om606 "is the 2jz of diesel engines" so probably yes for any Daily that drive more than 10mp/16km per trip an upgrade if u like to drive stick and just have the torque at low RPM is nice for cruiseing and the turbo will still give the power at higher rpm also because of the mechanical fuel pump and no ecu it is possible to get even cheaper fuel from used vegetable oils it is pretty easy to process them in too Bio diesel but I wouldn't run 100% Bio about 80% and rest pump diesel so there a same additives in there and it is more economic and ecological (but same power is lost)
@djurgaitiss3 жыл бұрын
@@TheLtVoss Fuel filters clog more quickly with veg oil too

If anything, maybe grab a skookum automotive breaker for the battery. Maybe a few. One for the main starting/charging system and one for the air suspension. I'd rather see a breaker pop than the car burn down.
@lunkydog3 жыл бұрын
Just go ahead and change the waste gate spring. You already know you're going to do it. It'd be a simple matter to refit the original filter while it's on the dyno to see how much it was holding you back. Won't even be hot like when changing the gate spring after a pull.

@curvs4me3 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, call it like it is! It's Hackmaster 5000 fabricators that couldn't get a 2.5 in cold air intake to fit under the hood in an E46 318 😁 Ahh, catch can!! I know it sounds crazy, but imagine a rebuildable vacuum pump running to a heated air/WATER/oil separator. Look at Perrin or IAG v3 heated (removes moisture and keeps the magic white lithium lookalike grease from forming on top of everything lol) air oil separator with return. (Oil return, vent the air through a decent filter down by the ground. It will keep you from smelling oil fumes when driving. Pulling a vacuum on the crankcase improves ring seal and eliminates hurricane 🌀 level vortices that rob 7% of the power across the board. Look at it like this, if you are dynoing at 700hp, you'll Dyno 750hp pulling a vacuum to an AOS-R. (Air oil separator return).

01:20 So, you guys got the 'Reverse Devil Z' huh? Also: you might want to place a simple internal scoop for your intake just to seperate it's flow from neighbouring radiators. You have literally scaled your filter up so you can actually make boost, that might mess with your radiator flow and cause heat issues, if not dangerous at least more than it should be. Just a thought, Z is doing way heaps than i expected!!! :)

More tuning content with statistics are always appreciated. Do you have a MAF sensor that you can pull data for air flow with? Even with the mechanical injection, being able to track flow rates might prove useful in cleaning up your tunes for optimal performance and keeping your EGTs down.

I would rather have regular small updates than waiting forever for 'A grade feature length / quality episodes'. I mean, don't get me wrong, they're fine from time to time - but it doesn't have to be every time. Also: I'd really like it if you discussed / responded to the comment that you pick each week. It's annoying when you display a question / observation on the screen and then ignore it.
@TrailAddict.3 жыл бұрын
I definitely would go for a feature length dyno update. Your content is A+ because you don't dwell on the little details of the build. Your longer videos really capture a highlight reel feeling (don't get me wrong I still wanna see when things go wrong too ;) ) that moves at a pretty decent pace. It feel like following a quality forum build thread and that's where your videos shine. You guys aren't amateurs and it shows, you have clear direction in the build and are resourceful. To that extent, the feature length video however less infrequent feel to me like they are more suited towards your style of documenting the build in every aspect. Keep up the good videos, one day you'll get a breakthrough and your new subscribers will have a backlog of videos to discover. Cheers from Canada,
