I'm going to order this turbo upgrade kit my question is I have 2014 GQ Abarth with now 64k on her. She has been a great car and I love her to death, Would it be a good time to replace the timing belt at the same time since I will have more room to work in since everything is apart. BTW I'm 61 years old and love to tinker and still like to drive fast. My Abarth name is Sophia

Timing belt isn’t due until 150k but if you want, you would definitely have more access

My local Fiat dealer wants to charge me $4,600 to change a failing turbo on my 500L. I'm thinking I can do this myself for much less.

@@OnYourLeft on a 500L, you likely have enough room to remove the turbo and manifold without removing the front radiator support.

I had my turbo built by g pop and installed it myself in a couple hours without removing radiator or bumper or any of that shit. Also freon in modern cars is illegal to let loose but does nothing to the ozone layer. It's just a greenhouse gas. Nothing to feel bad about, going past the speed limit is also illegal.

I mention this in my install video that you don’t have to remove everything but it does make it easier, especially if you are replacing the exhaust manifold. Also, we had the Freon evacuated offsite before we started. We do not recommend releasing Freon into the environment. Good job in getting it done quick though

@@NGENCustomsandPerformance well biggest issue is taking out the middle clamp and separating the turbo... Was so nervous I was gonna damage my exhaust turbine, the way you depict here is probably better for most to approach the install...

As long as you maintain your vehicle and make sure you don’t have boost leaks from possible other components, should last a really long time!

Hello.Great video. My car has 1.4 t-get engine. Is is possible to remove the manifold for exsaust gasket replacement, without dissasembling the front part of the car?

@@ard1419 you can technically do this job without completely removing the front end. However, it is a lot more difficult. That is why we recommend removing the front so you have easy access to everything and can do the job right.

@@NGENCustomsandPerformance already tested removing the heat shields and seems there's space for removing the rest. Is it possible 200 ml coolant to be loose for 2 months because of the turbine banjo bolts? It happens not during driving but when the car sitting for day or more

hey awesome video !!! i am interested in buying the kit but i am a bit confused..so here what is confusing me ..i have a Fiat Bravo 1.4 150hp t-jet it’s supposed to have the same engine as the Fiat 500 Abarth and the Alfa romeo mito and the punto ..how ever i am not sure if this kit is going to work or any other modifications that you have on your store .can you help me ?

All of our products are designed for the Multiair engine, not the t-jet. We don’t have the t-jet in the states so there is no way of testing or knowing what will work with your setup

at 43:15 you can see what i think is carbon build up, if i were to get a second hand abarth with some km or miles does this need to be cleaned out for better performance and longevity? also the headers wish seem suprisingly short (shorter turbo lag + i get it small engine bay) would changing the lenght change sound and or performance if at all possible that other style headers may be fitter. does the stock abarth come with unequal and i wonder what it would sound if that were to be changed? thanks for the video!

Strange decision to not clean the head before putting the manifold back on… Big job to replace that gasket when it leaks because you left crud on the matings surfaces.

the t27 under the turbo seems bigger i used a t27 and it was too small i used a t30 and it was to small what should i do a t40 is way to big

I’m dealing with a bought used lots of aftermarket 2013 fiat 500 abarth. The exhaust to turbo bolts backed out and thanks to your video I have the entire thing dismantled and now need to know what bolts or stud kit I need to put back together permanently. Will lock washers or lok tight help or not with all of the heat. Any help is so appreciated.

Hey man would greatly greatly appreciate a reply. My car is missing those 4 studs that start at the turbo and go through the gasket to the manifold. Where can i get these ? Would this be causing a P0299 code ? Could this also potentially cause an exhaust leak ? Would really appreciate a reply!

If you are missing all four studs then absolutely you will have a boost leak and throw codes! The studs are not available from fiat. However, if you go to Oreilly Auto parts, there is a “help” section where the Dorman Water Pump Stud Kit is located. It contains four studs that are a perfect match and can be used for this application. The stud size is an M8x1.25x35mm

@@NGENCustomsandPerformance Thank you so much ! Would you know if the studs come with the nuts as well ? I was getting the P0299 code, with fluctuating boost. Now the code is gone and have no boost whatsoever, it feels like it’s in limp mode. I can smell exhaust under the hood, so i noticed that those studs were missing and so figured that was my issue. I was planning on replacing the gasket between the turbo and manifold as well as the gasket manifold so make sure i do it all right. Is there anywhere else you think i should check considering the complete loss in boost ? I also have the forge circulating blow off valve and so i started thinking that maybe my issue was from a bad solenoid that came with the kit. Do you think that may be possible ? I’ll also be double checking my front mount. Thanks again brother !

@@realityallah39 a lot more to it then just swapping the engine. Different ecm, different transmission, etc I would maximize what you have - flash tune, exhaust, intake, Underdrive pulley kit, lighter wheels, lighten up the interior…
