This video helped me immensely with my recap. I have some soldering experience, but I had never even held a Turbo Express before. I used this video as a guide and had great success!

The Turboexpress was head and shoulders above the GB. A portable that ran the same games as the TV console. I need to recap mine. I wonder if the TV attachment has any signals to receive anymore! It worked last time I tried it, but that was the nineties.

Yeah, they were truly amazing and ahead of their time. Really happy that I own one as well. Definitely get those capacitors replaced as soon as possible because the longer you wait the more damage there will be. Sadly those tv attachments no longer receive tv signals

yes indeed it is really looking for a needle in a haystack, I have removed all the condos kasimentally except for the audio circuit of the pcb card 2 100uf / 6.3 when I probe everything in the normal area as well as that the little one at the top of the 4.7 / 35 v card and the 35uf /6.3 v it goes well all the rest and removed with still the short circuit

Can I ship mine to you to repair. You really impressed me with your talented work. I’m 72 years old and my eyes and hands are incapable. I live in South Carolina. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount . Thank you.

hi, I'm not an expert .. in the video, every now and then I see you use a blue color tool that emits a noise (similar to a hum) when you use it on the pitches to flatten soldering tin, what's it called this strument ?
@LIRetroGaming4 жыл бұрын
That is a desoldering gun, and it can be used to remove solder from the board and help clean everything up. Mine is a hakko fr-301

Would it be easier to just snip the heat shield off instead of desoldering it? Just was wondering if.
@LIRetroGaming6 ай бұрын
That could work but it’s risky because you can damage some of the nearby parts

Hello, thank you for your answer, the replacement of the capacitor has been done by the seller, it is a console that I bought on ebay in semi hs, while he forgot to add the 470uf /6.3 that I soldered immediately is after but it has nothing to give the console is inert not its no image I check the fuse is I saw that it has blown it is already the 2nd which blows! so I removed all the capacitors but I still have the same short circuit that I spotted at the level of the large 16v / 100uf capacitor when I probe the 2 pastil + with the multimeter - it sounds in continuity mode I don't understand. what does this regulator look like and where is it located on the motherboard? I also thought maybe the cpu hu which would be hs when you think? here I continue to look for the failure it is very frustrating cdlt.

Finding a short circuit is always very difficult. I could help with this, but it’s really hard to do without seeing it in person. You may want to remove all of the new capacitors as well and see if there’s a short underneath one of the capacitors

I made another turbo express video and you can see the voltage regulator in that video

I can try to help with the PC Engine GT. Did you replace the capacitors? If those have been replaced I would also look at the main voltage regulator as a possible source of the short circuit
@solondarville1020 Жыл бұрын
Just did the cap replacement but my screen is still black?
@LIRetroGaming Жыл бұрын
Do you have sound? If so then there maybe some cut traces on the board from bad capacitors
@solondarville1020 Жыл бұрын
How would I ho about fixing or finding it? I think you’re right on a broken pad from a capacitor

Don't make your life hard, just use smd ceramic capacitors. Also, 22uf, 33uf, 47uf and 100uf caps can be replaced with 100uf.
