Awesome, have a sub! I had a 1340cc fast road engine built here in the UK about 15 years ago, with the 'economy' gearbox it would do 120mph whilst screaming its little heart out. Not much would keep up with it around the twisty back lanes of England and it probably only had around 70-80 wheel horsepower. I'd love to try a turbo kit, it could work out much cheaper than having an engine 'built'.

I'm mighty impressed with that twin cam setup. Who worked out the k series bmw head would fit? I would have to agree with the other moaners about the video inserts - highly annoying! But otherwise nice video. A lot of people dont like classic minis to be messed with, but they're not exactly rare (mk1 & 2 cooper and S excepted). I had a 1380 Avonbar in an austin metro many years ago and that was about 80hp at the wheels, so im guessing the twin cam is somewhat detuned for driveabiliy/reliability?

Hi Mike yes I also love the twin cam conversion on an A series block idea. (Very similar in concept to Colin Chapmans Lotus Cortina engine back in my day)..

9:13 Are you recommending the yellow spring now? When I brought mine down to be dyno'd paul took out my yellow spring and put in the lightest spring he could find. Btw, still runs great and I love it!

Light or standard springs are usually fine in engines that are generally driven under 6000 rpm (in just road use) and will usually extend the valve train life quite considerably. Unfortunately regular racing usually means regular strip downs! 😁

The only advice for you that is correct is based on your actual engine specs. Don't take general advice when it comes to spring and oil choice for YOUR carb. What is your engine spec?

Depends on the spec of the twin cam, some of them are 180+, but TBH with an A series its pointless going to that power with either turbo or twincam as they just dont last. 3 bearing crank etc.

@@sjc75vs I and many others have run the a series reliably over 200 bhp, well over in fact. They need to be built right and well maintained but are more than capable.

If you use it hard at that figure, even with an arrow crank etc the flex in it due to the 3 bearings mains just isn’t going to last long. So it depends on your idea of what constitutes reliable I guess. Anyway enjoy your car.

@@sjc75vs this other guy is trolling😂 no videos of his monster build daily reliable mini, and he missed the guy saying this is a turbo kit on a stock a series with no head work. both seem like lovely builds, the specialist component kits are really good.
