Thank you. Also never say first doing this! I can see you are a mechanic and I know you have worked on this style of car an motor but first time with this exact project. Your detail is spot on. I have respect for you and your craft! Keep up the good work!

Man you are a life saver, thank you for the video so glad you did this. Lighting was great I just had to adjust the volume ever now and then because you were multi tasking and holding the phone at the same time. Awesome job I am going to order the parts and give it a go.

Thanks for doing this video, it’s extremely helpful and you did a nice job. Can you tell me how much of the splash shield you had to remove under the engine?
@Capt..obvious9 ай бұрын
The splash shield for that car had broken off many years before I made this video so it didnt have one lol. But if it did, the whole splash guard wouldve been removed, its just 1 thats under the car.

Just a tip Kia sales the parts for less. Just look up the Hyundai part number on the Kia site.

How many miles were on your car when this failed? Mine isn't leaking, but I've noticed that the top is starting to look pretty rusty. I've been keeping an eye on it. Been considering replacing it anyway as a preventative.
@Capt..obvious Жыл бұрын
If I recall correctly it was around the 60-70k miles range. My first sign something was wrong was I would smell burned oil after driving for a few minutes. It did however leak from the top bolt and center piece. Overally an inexpensive fix and wish I wouldve done it sooner.
@cincy9381 Жыл бұрын
@@Capt..obvious thanks. Im at 67k right now. Mine definitely isn't leaking yet. No burning smells or anything and everything is dry. But everytime I open the hood, I can't help but notice how much rust is on it. I've been keeping an eye on it for a while as I've been expecting it to eventually need attention.

Did you have to add more oil cause of the leak ? Is that regular oil from the engine ?
@Capt..obvious Жыл бұрын
Yes, I added full synthetic motor oil ever so often. Every 800 miles driven id have to check the dip stick to make sure I wasnt running low. Which almost everytime i was. Hope that helps
@nevillehusa82172 жыл бұрын
Your soft spoken, and hard to hear you; so why did you change the turbo oil feed line?
@Capt..obvious2 жыл бұрын
Yea I realized that after I started to edit the video. So I did my best with the sound and did not want to do a voice over. And I probably changed oil feed line because it was leaking as shown in the video………..
@Capt..obvious Жыл бұрын
@Salt_Fly The original oil feed line was leaking from the top gasket yes. But it was also leaking from the middle portion where the small heat shield was. I checked forums and anywhere else that had information on this specific problem but not much reviews can be found, so I decided just change everything except for the copper gasket… It did the trick and worked well after.
@michaelb9599 Жыл бұрын
@Salt_Fly there is a section of flex tube under the heat shield. Leaks where the metal crimps the breaded rubber hose.

Did u order gaskets separately? I am in Canada and this part was out of stock in the whole country i guess. Dealer told me the car will not be driveable for 1-2 months unless the part arrives. I ordered the part from a US dealer but now I want to know if this part comes with the required gaskets or not.
@Capt..obvious2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I ordered the bottom gasket separately. I actually reused the old copper gasket for the bolt on top. Not sure how soon a US product can make it out to Canada. But I received my parts within the week.
@Capt..obvious2 жыл бұрын
The gasket does not come together with the parts.
@mlfurm6 ай бұрын
@@Capt..obvious Not sure If you are still checking this video. I just replaced this today on mine and it had a dot for which way the bottom gasket was supposed to go and it was opposite of what you did here. So I put it with tab going up... Think that'll be a problem? :(
@Capt..obvious6 ай бұрын
@@mlfurm Thanks for letting me know. I tried following everything on how the previous parts were put together. On the video it shows how I compared gasket placement to the old gasket. So I figured thats how the gasket should go. I had the car for more than a year after I fixed this issue and did not have a drop of oil leak from this oil line, so i figured this particular problem was solved.
@mlfurm6 ай бұрын
@@Capt..obvious Yes, having looked at some other bulletins, etc. from Hyundai I'm pretty sure you did it right and I did it wrong. Do you think it's serious enough that I need to go pull it off and switch it? I haven't seen any leaking as of yet...
