Very good point on the head gasket. I've always did the same thing. Torque it, let it seat, loosen it then re-torque it. I learnt it from an amazing old mechanic double my age that's built more motors than I've been alive. Every motor I've rebuilt I've never blew a head gasket whereas before I ran into issues.
@craigstrom86195 жыл бұрын
Doug you definitely have some skills and knowledge. Leo i like the extra you add to the videos. The fun and goofy stuff is a real friendship with eachother. This motors going to rip. Great job as always.
@mikeylikesit42785 жыл бұрын
Loosening and re-tightening your bolts is good it seats the threads and gives them more surface area and better hold. This is also done when installing a barrel nut on a rifle.

@ 13:40 HEY, LENARDO, I WORKED in The Machine Shop in the entire S.B. So.Cal. Area. " no names" as a kid.The old timer/Engine Wizard Learned me that head torque technique/Wizard Magic as well as countless others🤯 I was truely fortunate. R I P CURT 👑

Hey leonardo, the valve lash gets tighter due to heat expansion. To tight and there won’t be any lash, to little and it will tick once the engine reaches operating temperature which usually causes rough starts after it’s been warmed up. Usually just need a little more lash. Also, as the valves wear to the valve seats the distance from valve to rocker arm decreases which is why the lash decreases as the motor wears. Intake lash is less than the exhaust lash due to the increased heat on the exhaust side. Same rules apply to cam in block or over head cam.

Even an unexperienced fell can learn when you NEED Doug in your life and when I go to having internals worked on seeing IF Doug has a price for me to let him work on any motorwork as his knowledge and care of the YXZ IS worth the money he needs for his knowledge and Labor! Thank you Doug!

A quality channel is like a good sitcom: a cast of characters who fit their role. You guys nail it. Doug the star and mechanic (I can guess what your day job is) Lenardo is "THE" voice and cinematographer, Nick is the comedian with driving skills and no fear. The fridge stands in for the smoking hot model (although someone has a hot wife - see velocity raptor video). And Doug's dad has good cameos. Keep it up gentlemen.
