Take an old set of steel valve covers and cut the top off of them. Works great for adjusting hydraulic lifters also if you use the spring clips to cover the holes in the rocker arms.

I talked to Clark when I ordered my copper gaskets. He said to fire the motor with no water to let the Hylomar set in. After it cools then fill the engine with water.

Just recently started priming engines like this. Before I would just spin them over with the coilpack(s) disconnected until the oil pressure light went out. Next time I'll rig up this mechanical pressure gauge and see how that works.

This is the correct way to be doing it. Was wondering, when you were just disconnecting the coil packs, Did you pull all the spark plugs too ? Engine will spin much quicker to build up pressure much quicker.

use scavage pump for the oil in the top end an your issue is solved

Why put a new oil filter on a fresh built race engine with rust in the oil filter mounting port. Back in the late 60’s the first thing I was taught race engine builder , put together a clean & sanitary motor , this helps the longevity of the engine .

That engine needs more than 4 quarts of oil, should be close to 7 or 8 quarts
