I love how the kid is laughing. Everyone should be this relaxed. The plane is just safely getting above the weather. All's well, a good laugh is in order.

Right ! It helps... ........ We hit an air pocket once. I only fly about every 5 or 6 years This guy with a suit on made me really think when he grabbed the edge of the seat with a groaning look. His legs where stretched out as far as he could get em. I wanted to puke. If he was scared we where done.
@09Joshmark Жыл бұрын
Its ok to be afraid, and as you can see, getting above the weather, took a lot of time, more than the normal, remember planes are not magical, they'r Machines, and sometimes machines go wrong.

One of my favorite videos. The sound of the child laughing reminds me of my son when he was younger. Flying out of DFW to Little Rock, and it was bumpy going out of DFW and into Little Rock. My son belly laughed the entire time it was rocking about.

Heavy rain itself does not always mean a rough ride, in fact most times I've taken off or landed in heavy rain it has been smooth. But when the captain said "missed approaches"......that when you start clenching your arse.

My dad used to live in Kowloon City (near the infamous Kowloon Walled City) and its right next to the old Hong Kong Kai Tak International Airport. Older generation joked that you can poke the belly of the airplanes coming for a landing. It was wild. Unfortunately the airport is also extremly hard to land on because of the rough terrain near the airport. There was a hill painted with checker pattern to warn the pilot to not go any further and signaling lights were also installed on the roof of the short buildings to signal the pilot to turn the plane around by 90 degree.

I was flying same day HKG to Singapore to India via Singapore airlines, wow still my leg shivers, it was like roller coaster, u could hear ppl shouting oooohhh, one thing I hated was no talk from captain after cruise altitude, may be they are used to or shivered, that incident prompted me to hate flying next one year though my job needs me fly a lot then (sic)
@andrewwinters8467 Жыл бұрын
Captains that don't talk to the passengers really annoy me. I want to know what's going on, where we are, how is the weather, etc., etc. I like hearing a calm pilot telling the passengers what is going on.

I was on a Virgin Aus flight to Sydney and this is quite alright compared to the turbulence in the final approach that we felt. Very bumpy and at times it felt the plane was falling like a brick and swaying up and down. I believe there was a strong crosswind and I could see that the plane landed way past the threshold.

Turbulence is when the wings of a 747 bend 20+ feet at the tips and the engines gyrate menacingly like they will soon break off. With lightning strikes lighting up these events like a strobe light, I didn't think we would live for much longer. The plane was not only jumping up and down but side to side as well. This was over the Mediterranean in a storm at night going from Bahrain to Frankfurt on a Quantas flight. The worst part was smelling the booze puke wafting about the cabin from a planeload of Aussies. We had a 4 hour delay so they served open bar and they emptied all of the beverage carts. We ran out of barf bags so I made use of my sport coat pocket.

Hong Kong is known for its cyclones and typhoons during the summer. At the ending of typhoon Vicente, my flight on the way back to the USA was rough, and I couldnt wait to see NYC's lights
@shyamvk12 жыл бұрын
Anyways, the turbulence was thankfully rather mild and i was down a few beers, two rounds of scotch. I had a connecting flight to another town 2 hours from there and it was also ok. The return flight was turbulent, but i could manage it. The only advice i can give you is that the one thing that truly helps is deep breathing. When turbulence hits, lift your legs and arch body forward with seat belt in place (it will be painful to do that, but it gives me some relief from the fear)
