Watched this live with my mates as neutrals knowing it may be the first group-stage match that ever went to penalties. It didn't go to penalties, but it's still one of the top three matches I've ever watched. Red cards, controversies, Cech's howler, Nihat's wonder goal, an incredible and late comeback, a considerable upset, players with their heads split open. Had everything.

After Rüştü's terrible mistake(118') Croatian players were so sure that whey won, you can even see that from the player that was near to Rüştü when he was about to do the best assist for Semih to score the last second goal of the game (122'). So basicaly Croatia lost itself because of the glorious feeling of the victory, as any team would do of course.

But we cannot say that they underestimated Turkey. In fact both teams were playing so careful that there were not even any exciting moments through the whole 120 minutes except a few and last three minutes. However, these last three minutes were enough to make this game still memorable.

Objectively one of the greatest games of it’s era. Koller, a true Pivot and Servet, a no-nonse butcher fought all game. Petr made the worst mistakes of his brilliant career. Volkan the Turkish GK had top European teams’ attention until pulling out a Zidane for absolutely no reason.
