The candidates are Murat Kurum vs Immamoglu and so more. Erdogan is not a candidate for Istanbul or another city dear German Media. If the oppositions loses its because they are not doing and working enough. The last time the opposition win the big cities like istanbul and ankara because the running party akp aka erdogan did party a bad job, it was not because the oposition like chp was better or doing better work/projects.

No, of course not. You see we have a saying in Turkey, "Al gülüm ver gülüm", it literally means trading. The opposition and the ruling party are in cahoots, that's why they willingly lost the presidential elections. AKP could've proposed a better candidate and take back Istanbul, but then they would fall short on their side of the bargain.
