Thank you for this video in showing this kosher/proper way to slaughter animal. By just bleeding it out, they do not flail around gasping for oxygen, which I’ve seen in hallel slaughters. This way the animal goes to sleep from the bleeding out and is not suffocating/suffering. This is also Scriptural. I’ve also seen how a farmer holds chicken in lap and it is very comfortable, no stress, bleeds out, and goes to sleep without any struggle. I also appreciate your respect for the life of the animal.

Thank you. I believe it makes all the difference to honor the food we eat. I was vegetarian for 15 years until we started raising our own protein.

I noticed that the turkey didn’t flinch at all when the cuts were made ... it didn’t hurt it at all! The flapping happens at that point whether you cut the head off entirely or just slice the arteries and bleed it out slowly. It really is electrical impulses. We take care of our animals, and they take care of us. Thank you for a great presentation.

Thank you for sharing! I am not religious, but have to say AMEN on thanking the turkey for giving its life for us to eat. I am a reformed city gal and while it still breaks my heart to have to kill an animal, we give thanks to the animal and make sure to use all the parts possible to not waste its life. Even before we raised our own, we bought a butchered pig. I was so freaked out over knowing this animal i never met gave its life for me. Prior to this moment, I didn't fret (other than wasted money) over any store bought meat I let go bad and had to toss. Anyway, long story short - when I hesitate over processing one of the goats or chickens I've grown to love, I remind myself that this animal had a MUCH better life than any meat you can buy in a store.

How many turkeys can you use a knife for before you have to sharpen your knife?
@FrannysFarm
@FrannysFarm 6 жыл бұрын
It's of critical importance to have SHARP KNIVES! Your senses are your best management tool. You will be able to feel the tension and resistance as the blade dulls. A dull knife at the kill can cause prolonged pasing and bleed out for the bird. We keep sharpeners at the kill cone & eviseration stations and sharpen them multiple times while processing birds. It depends on the knife, the birds, honing and sharpening skills. Safe to say though, you will absolutely need to sharpen your knife if doing more than 10 birds.

@@FrannysFarmif your turkeys are raised on pasture, won’t they still have grass in their crops when feed is withheld for 24 hours prior to slaughter? It’s going to be my first time🙏🏽Thank you for the great video!

I've seen plenty of poultry killed this way and have seen nothing in this method to convince me that this slaughter method is humane. An individual electric poultry stunner seems to be to be the best - rendering the bird instantly unconscious before the throat cut so it feels no pain. You are kidding yourselves and lying to everyone else by saying that the bird struggling is purely electrical. What it is is the bird recognising and being sensitive to pain, the whole experience being traumatic and frightning for it. An electric stun also does not compromise on the quality of the meat as the heart continues beating to allow a full bleed out. It is in fact illegal where I live in the UK for small scale poultry producers to kill birds without stunning.

Correct infact this is almost the Halal method
@Iwoasasaned
@Iwoasasaned 11 ай бұрын
Right? Here in my country you HAVE to stun before killing and both procedures have to be right followed after each other so the animal doesn’t regain consciousness. You would have to pay a hefty fine or even risk prison and would never be allowed to keep animals again.
