Awesomeness! ❤ Yes, we as women, have always been able to not only gather and preserve our food, but we hunt and process our own meat! My grandmother raised, me and 4 other cousins, by herself, she lost her husband when my dad was 17 years old. Mostly, she needed help with the heavy lifting 😂❤ It’s never to late to start, ladies!! At 50 years old, I took up deer and Turkey hunting! Never hunted anything bigger than a rabbit or quail! ❤Thank you, so much Megan!! I pray that all women get this message and understanding! ❤❤

That is one beautiful turkey and as you said, you have the satisfaction of knowing you raised and processed it yourself.

Yes! You can do this! Turkeys were so intimidating to me the very first time, but after you take that leap, you realize they are just gigantic chickens, haha! Best of luck to you my friend!

I call it stuffing. good job girl. I've cleaned chickens, skined and processed deer. Done all the canning and grinding of the venison. I used a tree branch cutter to ( think that's what it's called) to cut the legs off the deer.

Like you say its not easy,but Megan you make it look easy when it comes to processing the turkeys. I butchered meat years ago as a young man, the more you do it the easier it gets. Appreciate all you do and Wishing You and Your Family a Happy Thanksgiving 🙂.

If you have kids at home I hope they can help you! Kids these days are on their devices too much & this looks like a good job for them to help. 😊

Yes my kids were actually spending the day with my mom that day but they usually are huge helps in the garden and when we process our hogs and chickens!

@@TrueGritAppalachianWays Ohhh. Okay. That’s good too. I think kids who are 8 yrs old and older should help their parents with food processing if they have parents who process food. Wasnt trying to tell you how to parent just sick of kids doing whatever they feel like these days that’s all. 😉

That is amazing! Great job... I watched the brine video. How long do you soak it? Then what? I have never used a brine
@TrueGritAppalachianWays2 жыл бұрын
I soak my turkey for 24-36 hours, then I just rinse it off in the sink and cook as usual. I wasn’t a believe before but man does it truly make a difference!

Wow this was interesting.. What is a plucker? All it looked like was you put water on it and then poof it was all plucked! It was like a magic! I'm very curious
@TrueGritAppalachianWays2 жыл бұрын
A plucker is a machine with a ton of rubber fingers, it spins kind of like a washing machine and removes the feathers in a fraction of the time it would take to hand pluck. Thanks for watching!

Do you raise ducks? Is there demand for duck meat in your area? Would be easy to add in as you already have all the proccessing equipment.
