Turkish foreign minister says Israel is causing ‘deadlock’ in Gaza ceasefire negotiations

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Sunday that Israel is creating a “deadlock” in negotiations with Hamas for a ceasefire in Gaza with a “constant introduction of new excuses”. He asked the international community to put “pressure” on Israel, before explaining that Israel sees Hamas’ acceptance of the conditions for the ceasefire deal as “weakness and as surrender” and that such a view is “an extremely dangerous understanding”.
Fidan made the comments during a press conference with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, held in Istanbul.
