So, am I right in thinking that lok, lik etç has no one meaning: if not, how do you know when to add it to a word? I hope I have explained this clearly.

Hi there, that is right The suffixes (in this video it is -lik) do not have a meaning themselves. They are added to the words to derive new words. There are maby types of suffixes in Turkish that derive verbs from verbs, verbs from nouns...etc. or case suffixes or possessive suffixes...etc. As you learn Turkish grammar, you will also learn how and when to use the suffixes properly.

Dear Sir, since there is no reply to my question - and you are usually very polite in replying - I suspect I was right about my question being confusing - so I will try again. I’ll just use an example: if I buy a Coke in Turkey and see şekersiz on the can, I know that means without sugar; so, siz means without. But, I cannot understand the meaning of lik; it appears to have a different meaning in each example. I am confused by this because I cannot see how and when you would add lik to a word. I hope that makes more sense to you?

Well, thank you for your kind words. I reply the comments and questions as soon as I find an opportunity. Usually, I am not able to do it immediately :) -lik suffix is used to derive new words in Turkish. (derivational suffix) -siz suffix is used to mean "without" mostly but not every suffix has this type of distinctive and clear use. For example: kitap: book kitaplık: book shelf Çocuk : child çocukluk : childhood bebek : baby bebeklik : infancy göz : eye gözlük : glasses Hope this helps more.
