Hi Sercan, I am an Azeri teacher from South Azerbaijan. I love to dive in Turkic languages. What I have found is that there are some mistakes in Istanbul Turkish compared to Azeri Turkish. I see those mistakes are now very common in your Turkish and nobody pay attention to them. For example: using the word Kardesh instead of Kardash which respects vowel harmony in Turkish. Also the words Sana & Bana are completely wrong as they must be Sene & Bene/Mene. I also see a big mess up in Genish Zaman while this tense is very regular in Azeri Turkish. I think of creating a Common Turkish language for all Turkic Languages but this is something that must be done by an official organisation.

Hi Aybipar. Thanks for your message. As you know, the languages evolve and change day by day. The location, influence of the other languages and many other things have something to do with it. I would not personally say "mistakes" anymore even though they are not proper grammatically since the use is like this in Türkiye. Thank you so much for your comment and input on this.

@@TurkishJourney thank you Sercan to reply. I respect your opinion but I am afraid. I disagree with you because if elites of a society don’t try to inform ordinary people about the right version of the language , then that language will lose its pure identity gradually. So if it is supposed to let people to enter any changes they like into a language what is the role of a language academy? If Atatürk hadn’t established the Turkish Language Academy, now we would have seen nothing left from Turkish language. In my opinion the written form of a language must be the most correct version of it without any exceptions and we must always encourage people to use the right form of language. For example by supervising the language spoken in media productions such as films and series.

This is an interesting discussion. I believe an academy that supports the highest form of a lauguage in literature is very healthy for a society. On the other hand supervision of the spoken language in media seems stiflingly to me. English, especially in America, is very messy and not as precise in its meaning as one might expect. Some of that comes down to usage. Reading some high quality literature in ones native language is tremendously important, but so is having a sense of how the language is used across the spectrum of "purity" I will say. Expressiveness and clarity are at least somewhat mutually exclusive. The original comment was maybe more to do with consistency in basic spelling rules, but the issues of regionalism and class I suppose, go very deep don't they? It's best not to be too heavy handed I think, and to uplift a language by good example from the top, more so than hassling it to conform. Obviously my comments are completely unrelated to the Turkish language itself about which I know next to nothing.
