As Serbian I can tell that we inherited hospitality from Turks.Serbia was under Ottoman Empire almost 5 centuries. And among amazing food and a bit of genes :) :) :), we did inherit their friendliness which am thankful for.

I have never visited Serbia! I would love travel there on my bike some day. Which part of Serbia are you from? The hospitality I experienced in Turkey (and in Azerbaijan, another Turkic country), was incredible. To be honest, I found almost all of the countries I cycled through to be incredibly welcoming, but those two in particular stand out 🙂

"Komşusu açken tok yatan bizden değildir.’ is a common saying in Turkey which translates to "He who sleeps with a full stomach while his neighbor is hungry is not one of us (muslims)" and every Guests should be treated as Guests sent by Allah therefore we can't do anything but be generous, welcoming and caring. Especially the small villages around the major Cities.. these people are the most generous people you'll meet

Hey, thanks for sharing that saying, I remember one of my friends mentioning something like this while I was there! I also remember something about "Tanrı misafiri" (I had to google how to spell it just now haha). So true! The hospitality and kindness of some of the people I met on the journey was really incredible; definitely the most memorable aspect of the trip. I hope to have carried some of that with me since I left to pass on to others 🙂

This is not saying of Turkiye btw it is saying of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. We got this values from Islam.

In my opinion, "Tanri Misafiri" which translates to "Guest sent by God", does not comes from Islam, however comes from ancient Turks, because "Tanri" word orijin is "Tengri" , Gok Tengri" and in addition there are 99 Allah's name in Qur'an, but not include "Tanri".

Thanks so much! Yeah it's all my own footage 😁 So glad you enjoyed the video. Haha the only difficult things were the traffic and some of the dogs (they never miss a chance to chase a cyclist), other than that I had an absolutely amazing time there, everybody was so friendly and welcoming 🇹🇷
