Long ago, in 1985, I visited the Harp Festival in Keadue...there also was a competition of young harp players...a very pleasant memory! Greetings from Germany....

I encountered his music in the early 1980s, on holiday in Beauly near Inverness. No money to buy a harp, so I built one from plywood, 36 tuning pegs for twelve-stringed guitar, and proper gut strings donated by a very kind string manufacturer. Played all of O'Carolan on that homemade harp, which had a surprisingly pleasing soft tone (very much thanks to the donated strings).
