My wife had a Bolens when I first met her. It was her fathers garden tractor, and to me it was amazing and really good to mow with. The mower never failed to run right and go swiftly. I thought it was the best mower I had ever been around. They had always taken it to a shop for anything. This was in the early 70's. I wouldn't mind having it right now.

I come from the commercial side. But this type mower is really fun. I purchased a 2019 "Cub" with 19 hours on it for resale, but then realized I enjoyed it. I still have it.

That engine sounds amazing! It seems to fire really smoothly - big surprise given how bad everything looked at first. This one’s a diamond in the rough!

Honest Alex, this mower ran fine last fall! Lol. 😂 That is one of the worst carbs ive ever seen. Looked like it was full of our good ole Iowa ethanol. It sounds and looks great now. The gas tank cleaning was a huge improvement. The detailing as you know really helps sell a machine. You should make a decent profit and on to the next machine. Im really liking this series! 👍🎬🎥🇺🇸

The gas does not wash out the head gasket. If you have to change the drive belt on that system, change both at the same time. That is very critical. Great find, excellent work. You’ve got a great start on your 2000 bucks

I refurbish a lot of mowers. One tip I will give is remove the dead battery and connect your jump box clamps right to the battery leads. It gets a lot more of the CCA from the jump box up to the starter. Nice work on saving this one! Always a good feeling.

Thank you very much for the tip. That would certainly take the load off from the jumper pack. I really appreciate the support 🙏

I did really well with a 1996 Yamaha G16A golf cart. I got it at an auction for $225, put $315 into it, so about $540 total into it, did a bit of work all over it and sold it for $2,200. It was a fun fix-storation peice. Never had a golf cart before that one.

I could never work on that flood zone tractor without pressure washing the whole thing really well first! I can’t stand working on dirty machines; I try not to bring debris into the shop, plus when it’s clean it’s a lot easier to spot issues at the beginning. Also, if it turns out to be a runner I’ve already done a good part of the cosmetic to it. Just my Mr. Clean self! 😂

My Huskee that is very close to this one (it is a 2010 with a 12.5 not the 15.5 but same otherwise) has well over 1k hours on it has the issue with going forward or reverse even with new drive belts so I bought a new variable drive pully and bearings that I have to install soon™. I did change out the deck spindles for greaseable ones as one of the OEM ones basically grenaded while mowing a big yard. Best $800 (new) mower I bought and I definitely got my moneys worth out of the thing. Might try and sell it once it is all fixed up for like $500 or best since it is a good little mower and should need nothing once the drive is working.

always test needle by putting carb on studs but don't tighten , hook gas up with a full tank to create the max pressure it will see and just let it sit for a while , gas will leak out before going into intake and can easily be seen , if you tighten it up there is no way to see if the gas leaking by and good way to ruin yer fresh oil change

You said ran when parked, did your friend park it in his pond until you came to pick it up LOL? Asking $450 and taking $400 with new blades and battery is very fair, I would pay $400 for that in turnkey/ready to mow status:-) I would take that $400 profit and look for a super neglected zero turn next that can be flipped for a $1k profit:-)
