What do you think? Would you use this pot? The size is a bit big for solo backpacking, but is my go to for group camping and winter camping with my MSR Whisperlite. It nests perfectly in this pot (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX-li5mhf5qWY6s). I love the ceramic non-stick interior.

I am so happy I came across you, Sir! I just looked at the jet boil stove. I am uncomfortable with the height of it, and what seem to be a lack of secure for the pot. Thank you for letting me know that I could use it on almost any other stove. Thank you.

I bought a Fire Maple 1 liter pot with the heat exchanger base as an alternate to my SIGG Tourist cook set. Boils quick, and my SVEA 123R with an after market Quiet Stove burner fits inside for a very compact package. The 1.5 L would be good for a group setting, though. On the Stanley pot, yeah, stainless steel sucks at conduction heat, compared to aluminum.

I’ve heard Fire Maple is a solid choice. I do not have any experience with any of their products. The 1.5l is wide enough to nest the Whisperlite lite. It looks like $20 cheaper and only 1oz heavier. Thanks for the comment, see you outside!

Great advice! 1/2 the boil time compared to a standard pot saves a LOT of fuel! I think the integrated pot and burner would really shine through when you have any wind though. Thanks! Jeff

Thanks for the comment, I agree that in most situations, the MiniMo is going to outperform the pot. The MiniMo does really well in the wind. I was going back and forth between the MiniMo and the MSR Windburner. The Windburner is even better in the wind, but I settled on the MiniMo for its versatility.

@@OutsideChronicles I am a self professed stovaholic! Just last night I received the newest version of the Bulin 3800 and its matching 1.5 L pot and it looks to be quite comparable to MSR Reactor but came in at the $65 mark for both pieces. I am going to run a 2 cup and 1 liter boil test this weekend and see if I can beat that 2 minute mark! I sure do like that ceramic JetBoil pot though, it sure beats scraping food out for cleanup!

@@OutsideChronicles Mike! Amazing results! Boiled 2 cups of water to a very rapid boil in 1 min 18 seconds!!! Letting stuff cool off until later to try 1 liter. I didn’t even let the stove run to warm up the reactor plate before putting the pot on! Going to have to make a video. Update:! 1 Liter of 60 degree tap water was 2 min 30 seconds !!!!! WOW!!!

Hey does the jet boil pot fit correctly onto the pocket rocket 2. Considering getting the pot myself
@OutsideChronicles

Yes, it fits real well. The pot stands are just big enough to fit in a ridge that helps from sliding.

The inefficiency of your old narrow pot are not to be underestimated. Been wild camping for decades and have never bought into these narrow pots that seem all the rage. Good review but you are most definitely not comparing like for like. I use an ancient Trangia Aluminium pot to boil water and it's base is 180mm or 7in. With foil lid it weighs 120gms. I only boil water for tea or to re hydrate food. Would I swap, maybe, but they are heavy. Personally I think this is a good product but it's efficiency would be improved further by making it wider and shallower. I don't make youtube videos and don't possess the equipment or inclination to test, I just rely on real world experience.
@OutsideChronicles

Agreed that the Stanley pot might not be like for like in this video, but in my Whisperlite video, the JetBoil blows away an MSR pot with nearly the same dimensions: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX-li5mhf5qWY6s. There is no doubt in my mind and experience that the JetBoil flux ring adds efficiency.
@Dickie2702
@Dickie2702 Жыл бұрын
Agreed but with a weight penalty. It's difficult, when you spend years chopping your toothbrush in half to save weight to suddenly add weight for the sake of faster boil times. I am very old and set in my ways by the way.

Is there a stove where the fluxring (or similar tech) is part of the stove rather than part of the pot? I'd like to accelerate brewing coffee with a moka pot.
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles Жыл бұрын
I have not seen that, I think for the flux ring to work, it needs to conduct to the pot.

Would the jetboil Minimo pot set fit inside this pot? for stowing while travelling, would be great to have 2 pots if they could fit together
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles 10 ай бұрын
The Minimo definitely not, but the Micromo would be pretty close. Dimensions of 1.5L pot: 6.3 in x 4.8 in, packed dimensions of the Micromo: 4.1 in x 6.25 in Real close fit! You would have to test fit at a gear store to be sure.

So this could be used as a frying pan as well? Then i'd have one less thing to pack.
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles 2 жыл бұрын
It could, but would not be ideal. Depends on what you are frying since it is a fairly deep pot. Could you make two over easy eggs, yes. Would you be cursing, maybe.
@ECL..
@ECL.. 2 жыл бұрын
@@OutsideChronicles Yeah I can see where it might get frustrating. Don’t do a whole lot of frying, but it’s nice to have a change from boiled food. Maybe it’d be okay, as long as it wouldn’t damage it. Thanks for the info and great video.

Do you think this pot would fit on the soto windmaster 4 flex? I have this and don't know if I should try the soto or just stick with a mighty mo to be safe
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles Жыл бұрын
The pot will work great with the Soto. If you are looking at the Mighty Mo and already own the Soto, I would go with the Soto+JetBoil pot. Do you have a local gear shop that stocks the JetBoil Pot? I’d go in with your Soto and do a test fit.

@@OutsideChronicles That's great to hear. I bought the JetBoil pot first as it was the perfect pot for what I need it for. I wanted to get the Soto as I've heard great things about it but wasn't sure if it would fit so I was just going to go with the Mighty Mo as I know it will work with this pot. I'm working a little backwards here trying to find the perfect stove for my pot and not the other way around lol

But does it work with the Jetboil Genesis? You say all of them. Jetboil says no. Some reviews say yes. Very confusing.
@OutsideChronicles
@OutsideChronicles Жыл бұрын
I cannot imagine why not. It looks like it would fit on the Genesis pot stands. Other than that, it is just a pot with baffles.
@WildcatPhoto
@WildcatPhoto Жыл бұрын
The guy at Jetboil told me the burner is too big in diameter and would ruin the pot. Then something he read in his information said it was not for use with Genesis. For one thing, it would or could burn the cozy that is wrapped around it because that is left on it. Also, he said it could ruin the orange handle which is lower on the pot than some. I haven't heard from anyone who has actually tried it to know for sure.
@OutsideChronicles

@@WildcatPhoto I can believe that. I am sure they have had complaints that backup the reasoning.
