It will perform very bad , inlet ports should be on one side , outlet on other one that is the benefit of two pistons in one cylinder. In present two outlet and two inlet.

@@tayloralvidrez4342 the main issue here is reliability. he just added a shitload of gears. it will perform extremely well in performance tests because it will use the same amount of fuel and propel 2 pistons. in this case lets say the original enginem made 20 hp and 50 MPG. this engine will make somwhere near 30-35 hp and 50 MPG. its super unreliable and thats really the only reason its not widespread.

It would still use double the fuel right? He used 2 carbs and the engine has twice the displacement now so it would still need more fuel. Also, because he removed the valves, it is a 2 stroke now right? So it would use even more fuel because it fires 2 times as much as a four stroke.

It is a work of genius. The thickness of that spark plug plate must be critical, it determines the compression.

Cool engine, the whine of straight-cut gears reminds me of old honda vfr motorcycles that had gear driven camshafts. Also i have engine idea for you, make two cylinder engine that has one cylinder working as 4 stroke and second working as two stroke.

​@@beachbumberry Brilliant bikes. I saved for ages to get one as a teenager only to find I was waaaaay too tall for it. It was heartbreaking!!! It was epic for half a summer before I had to give in and get something physically bigger because of the neck/back pain. Still never found anything as quick and nimble for someone of my height :(

Beautiful build!! I trully like your videos!! But, as a ships mechanic I wondered if the engine would run well (after seeing the first video). In your design each piston takes care of both intake- and exhaust ports. IRL one piston operates the exhaust port whilst the other one takes care of operating the intake port. This way you'll get a better crossflow of the mixture. None the less; Beautifully done!! My complements!!

it needs electronic fuel injection. And slight offset timing between the two cranck shafts., so intake and exhoust arent allways open at the same time, and delete two stroke exhoust system, and introduce supercharger, not with crazy boost or anything, but just to pump air inn to the intake. belt driven compressor side of a turbo maybe. alternative, increase compression to allow for self ignition. and install a diesel pump with direct injection. make it run on any fuel

Opposed piston engines can be more efficient because of lengthwise exhaust scavenging. This engine is still crosswise scavenging. Like a traditional two stoke with two cylinders.

No, have you ever seen the oil viscosity test in auto parts stores? The bottom gear picks up the oil and the rest of the gears transfer the oil by way of rotation.

definitely took a lot of skill to pull off however the engine in practice probably leaves a lot to be desired cause while it does sound smooth the thing also doesn't seem to like revving and overall just sounds rather weak. might be down to compression or just with the ports but there's something definitely lacking

I suspect a lot of it's to do with the exhaust. That pipe's made for half of that engine and won't be suited to double the gas flow, that's also probably why it's so smooth at idle. A properly tuned pipe or pair of pipes would help a lot I reckon

I'm really happy to see my favorite opposed piston type engine , always think of the engine on motorcycle but in it should be single carb/fuel injection and it should be 4 stroke or 6 stroke . compressed air first before fuel spray. it should included with ( SUPERCHARGER) Targeted things- good fuel mileage, thermal efficiency, higher power with lower fuel , awesome sounds , SUPERCHARGER -sound and power. turbo configuration took Alot of space, weight and heat it might not suitable for motorcycle - SUPERCHARGER good for space , quick, no leg , power & others...

Very cool!!!! Interesting design since you are using 2 intake ports and 2 exhaust ports. Perfect balance can be achieved if the crankshafts are counter rotating.

This would make it difficult to connect to a drivetrain though. Not impossible. But you’d need to use gears to connect it with a drivetrain and ensure that output power from both engines is mono directional. If they’re rotating in the same direction then a simple chain drive would directly transmit power between both engines to a single transmission mounted conventionally to one of the engines. This seems to be the easiest way of doing it. Perfect balance isn’t really all that important. As long as it’s balanced enough that it doesn’t shake itself apart or cause discomfort for the rider/driver of the vehicle it’s being used on.

The only issue with this that I see, is that you completely missed the point of the operation cycle of an opposed piston engine, one crankshaft needs to lead the other by around 3 degrees, and the exhaust needs to be on that side, the trailing piston gets the intake side, this allows for extended scavenging time, which combined with the long combined stroke, leads to incredible power output and efficiency.

This although an opposed piston engine I believe that a true opposed piston has echaust ports on one side and intake ports on the other side, this is basically two 2 stroke engines joined together

In the case of opposed-piston engines, the exhaust side should only be opposite because of better filling. The ignition on the center of the piston with both pistons. This allows the outlet to be opened and closed earlier. There is no need for pre-compression via the crankcase when using stepped pistons. It's my invention of 20 years of development. No exhaust fumes. H2. Bei Gegenkolbenmotoren soll die Auslaßseite nur gegenüber liegend sein wegen besserer Füllung. Die Zündung auf der Kolbenmitte mit beiden Kolben. Der Auslaß kann so früher geöffnet und geschlossen werden. Die Vorkomprimierung über das Kurbelgehäuse entfällt, wenn man Stufenkolben benutzt. Es ist meine Erfindung von 20 Jahre Entwicklung. Keine Abgase. H2 geeignet.

Very good Work! I think If you put in an oil pump for the front gears it will be better cooled. For more Power give each cylinder one exhaust. How will you cool the cylinders?

watch out Subaru he might learn you something, boxer engines run smoothly as they counterbalance each other, and give great MPG and good BHP, this setup would be good for an off-road buggy mounted transversally across the frame, with a low centre of gravity so it is very stable, to simplify it even more (less is more with engines) one carburettor onto a split inlet, are the oil transfers big enough to feed all the bearings ? You can't get them too big of a diameter IMO very interesting build, watch videos by Allen Millyard if you don't already, he is well known in the UK for making engines the way you do from bits and pieces

Let's learn that two different crankcase volumes definitely don't work well together. This 2 stroke will eat itself. I dont knock someone for trying but reading is a better start than cutting and welding.
