For me, it all depends on how everything looks and if you want to do any alterations. If you/the customer wants a bunch of new lights and sockets or if the wiring looks like a pot of spaghetti (I think CJR Electrical had a video like that a few months ago) it's much easier and faster to do a full rewire but if everything's as neat as here and the customer doesn't want any alterations, why rewire?
@imark77777774 жыл бұрын
this Looks like it's going to be a beautiful install, can't wait for the next video in the series. here in the US we have to secure the cables at least in new installations so many inches away from the box in the wall. This means that anything you have to redo later on you're stuck with how much slack you have and you have to pull the whole box out and undo the clip which most likely won't give you any more slack. I really need to look into why this is a requirement when it doesn't seem to be in many other countries. I know it's partially supposed to keep the cable from being in the middle of the cavity to protect it but if the homeowner wants to put a nail through the wall.........
@Azlehria4 жыл бұрын
Interestingly, the securing requirement doesn't apply to fished cable. You only have to start securing once the cable reaches an "accessible" area - open attic, crawlspace, etc..
@imark77777774 жыл бұрын
@@Azlehria I don't remember exactly what it was but we and the US are required to have means of securing the cable every so many inches/feet. So basically to avoid any mechanicals you're securing every 16 inches more less. down a wall then it needs to be secured coming into the wall cavity and going into the fixture and if it's a long run a few more spaced out. For new work..... for old work it's whatever you can get to, and it's pretty much considered grandfathered so unless there's not anything majorly wrong with it and it's reasonably to code. it's OK. I look at these videos and go if only it was wired that way it would've been so easy to fix. In some ways we have some strict requirements in other ways we have some pretty laxed ones. From what I understand Australia doesn't even require their boxes to have backs!

They only thing they will do is mediation and I'm pretty sure it won't be done by a professional. Taking deposits and payment on completion before you leave the property are also some other ways to weed out bad customers. @AndyK.14 жыл бұрын
They trust us to send them the meter readings 😂. Alot of our meters our outside. They are fitting smart meter to transmit the readings 🙄
@Mr.MFuckingYTchangedmyname4 жыл бұрын
The electricity suppliers here send a man round to read the meter too. Well, sometimes it's the supplier, sometimes it's a p ikey who knocks you about a bit, ties you up then nicks your life savings from under the mattress. It's a kind of lottery we have here, I think it's the "Who's that knocking on my door" lottery. I'm sure I've seen an ad on telly. We are now encouraged to put our faith in those wonderful technologically advanced supply companies, and have a Smartmeter fitted which allows the supplier to get an accurate and swift picture of your electricity usage so they can bill you easily and confidently with a smile. These are the same companies who lose our data every 5 minutes and use call centres in Bombay where they can get away with paying Sanjay £5 per day, so long as he swears his name is Peter and says he is in Gloucester when you speak to him. And you will want to speak to him, namely about your gargantuan bill which seems to be for the whole town, rather than your tiny abode with 1 light bulb and a fridge, as it has been for the previous decade. The meter can't be wrong though, can it guv? HM Govt would like us to all have these meters, despite knowing they are about as reliable as Boris in a "Keep-your-dick-in-your-pants-contest" at a typing pool, and that each supplier has their own meter type which is incompatible with the others, so if you are being bent over by one company, it's a long slow painful process to switch to another gang of bandits.
