I will turn 20 on the 13th of July and I can't deal with it. I'm so scared and I feel sick at the thought of leaving my teen years. Ever since turning 17, it felt like time flew by and it has outrun me, I'm not ready to continue in such big steps. While being in your twenties, people usually get married & have their first baby ( I don't even have anyone to mate with yet ). Graduating from college & getting into university and getting a job afterwards is so frightening. I have to move and live on my own, away from all my friends. Time just hits me while I'm not able to confidentially follow. I haven't even got my shit together, my life is a mess ( depression ), and taking this step feels wrong but I can't change becoming 20. My mom just told me I'm like my aunt, scary to get older but it's not that. I don't mind looking older, I can't handle the responsibility and the stress coming along with getting older yet. I really wanna cry right now, each day makes it worse.

I can relate, I just turned 20 about 2 months ago or so. Something that helps me from panicking is to just focus on one step at a time, remember we don’t have to take on every huge mile stone at once. Don’t worry about marriage and kids till a bit later on in life, still got plenty of time before that comes along. We’re all still growing up and trying to figure out what to do and that’s okay, life is about learning after all. I hope this helps ease your mind a bit, lord knows it did for me.

I've always felt like 20 was really the start of young adulthood. I hear people talk about entering their twenties a lot like it's a big deal. I’ve been depressed and MISERABLE the whole week leading up to my birthday tomorrow. Society is really confused on what an adult actually means. It's not about the age rather the mentality and capability of having children and starting a family, that to me is an adult. We're all adolescents instead, and the law is just jacked up. I would NEVER in a million years would consider 18-21 year olds 'adults', majority of them behave like teenagers (which we actually are) anyways. Society just likes to pressure the youth to mature faster and they wonder why many are so stressed out, anxious and depressed. However, and of course, people are different. There are 18 year olds who want to feel like an adult and they supposedly do, then there are 21 year olds who still feel like a teenager despite their number. Myself, being 20 this year, I still feel like a child. I've changed so much last year at 19 and realized many things that I wish I knew before, but hey I don't feel a huge difference. It's just society's standards saying "Oh mY GoD yOu'LL feeL SO diFFErent IN YOuR EarLy 20s" Honestly, no. It's not that quick to advance from your teenage years during the early 20s phase. The human brain develops slower than majority think, up until 25-26. In the end, and I can agree with you Cazwis, we're all lost, big kids in a lost society.

I turn 20 in a few months and yeah it's exciting and yet scary. I in a way still have "my whole life ahead of me" and yet so much has happened I created millions of memories and many friends along the way and yet I don't feel like I've aged a day. I still can remember leaving elementary for the first time and how scared I was. Now I'm in university in debt and not exactly sure where I go from here. I wish I had everything figured out and I tell myself I do, but in reality I don't. I go day to day at this point trying not to think too far ahead. Yet that future is coming quickly. I'm in all ways scared and excited of the unknown but theres no stopping it now.

I sit here thinking about my past and a flood of emotions hit me. It's hard to think my childhood has come to an end. The days of playing zelda, or the days sitting in the back of the school bus talking about the latest episode of Ben 10 are all behind me. Time indeed flies. I even got scared when I turned 14. 14 was still young imo but dangerously close to 16 and as kid I always have seen the age 16 as a big milestone. 16 years old seemed older and more mature as kid. Then I was scared about 18. 18 was another big milestone because it is the legal age in my country. But after turning 18 it turned out pretty well. I was still in school at the age of 18 and was allowed to drive a car by my own. It was cool to drive to school with a car (from my mother). But I was allowed to use it. When I turned 19 things finally changed at what I feared about turning 16 and 18 happened when I turned 19. Dealing with adult problems, entering the real world and getting more independent and especially to define the person you want to be. 20 was then another big milestone because it felt weird to be alive for two decades now. When I heard someone talking about 20 years ago I always thought it is a super long time and I didn’t even exist back then. I’m about to turn 23 in October and the last 4 years habe passed so fast. When I remember my 4 elementary school years it felt like an eternity.

@@UnknownUser_10 Yes, it's crazy. I'm officially 20 and it's weird. It's like I'm so used to my siblings being in their 20's while I was in my preteen/teen years and now my turn is finally here. It is wild and a blessing to have lived 20 years. I agree, ever since covid happened, it seems like it's been so long since I have been in school. I went online in 2020 for the last months of school and then online for my last year. I can remember just being a 9th grader and people saying it will go by fast. Sometimes it seems like my graduation was forever ago but it was only last year. It's crazy to think back to elementary, especially since that was when I joined KZbin (5th) and I really go into things like gaming etc. I look back at my comment history on my account to see how much I have grown. (Seeing my old favorite KZbinrs as well.) I might even look back at this one in the future lol.

@@LiddleYayah That’s true. We always think it’s so normal to live up to 20 years, but many people die before because of bad events and sometimes even illnesses. In my neighborhood there was a guy (my age) who was in my kindergarten as well. He died because of cancer and that showed me that I can be thankful for being healthy. Also, it is cool to have an old KZbin account to look back to your younger self. My oldest account is from late 2016 when I was 17. I wish I would have created it earlier.

Yo, you're young af. Trust. From 20 - 25 years old alot can happen good and bad. Just know, between those ages feels like your "late teens" very energetic. Turned 20 on the third, most of my friends are all younger than me (still in high school) and I haven’t even really thought about what I want to do with my life. About to turn 20 in about two hours. Don't really know what to think about it. I'm a pretty emotional person about, well, everything I guess so I'm trying to keep it together but it's hard. I feel mature, perhaps not as mature as I could be but mature nonetheless. I'm in college and yet somehow realizing I'm about to no longer be a teenager is seeming already far scarier than it was when I was moving on from high school. I just feel so confused and like I have no idea what's going to come next. It's like when you turn 20 you're expected to have it all together now because you're officially an "Adult". Whatever adult even means. But, I can't stop time, even if I would like to. So, well, here goes nothing?

BTS Kpop Edits Imo, a lot of people in their 20s still seem very much like teenagers. Only this time they’re more independent and have more responsibility but still they seem a lot like teens. I just turned 19 so I will be 20 next year and that scares me :( even though 20 isn’t a teen anymore it kind of is at the same time because you can’t drink yet (at least here in the states). Anyways I think 20 somethings are pretty much more of an upgraded version of teenagers. A lot of us never grow up mentally. I mean, I still feel exactly like I did at 14 and even look like it too. The growing up part and becoming independent is what scares. I’m also really scared of getting older physically

I think you need to understand that you actually growing up mentally and physically until 25 on average , so this is why adolescence tend to be fixed until that period, and i do think you are more adult at that age. And teenager dont mean being a kid too, and that once you are not teenager anymore you automatically become adult , its not working like that 😂in other language such words like '' teenager '' doesnt exist. In french for exemple we just call them '' adolescent '' which is more accurate actually. And its hard to determine because adulthood is also fixed at 18. So its mean you are in reality not a real teenager once you turn 18. Yes its complicated

@@workingspace7395 hey!!! Don’t be anxious on what’s to come!! If I can talk to myself at 20 years old it would be: you don’t have to go to college to be happy. You can do whatever you want that helps yourself. STAY AWAY FROM CREDIT CARDS!! 21: stay away from going to bars all the time. I developed a drinking problem and gained so much weight from it. I wasn’t happy and I turned to witch craft. Which wasn’t the best option. I had a lot of mental problems that caused a lot of trouble. 22: I got engaged and married. Unfortunately I dealt with a lot of drama with girls making up rumors that I was cheating on my spouse and friends that I was closed to betrayed me. I was so heart broken. Long story short people will do you dirty even people close to you. 23: the age I am now. I was depressed a few months back about the rumors and it was still bugging me. Turns out the girl got drunk and admitted it was a lie and she made everything up about me. I turned to Jesus Christ and he’s helped me so much. Everyday I wanna learn more about god. I’m happy with my life. I love my husband There’s ups and downs but no matter what it will be ok!! You got this! Go with the flow live life like it’s tomorrow is the last day. (:

I dont think we leave childhood once you turn twenty, i mean , in that case why you are considered as an adult once you turn 18 ? Adult is the total opposite of child too. And becoming an adult isnt something automatic , people feel themself adult at different period of times, each person have difference experiences and at the end its just a number, our mental age is often different too. And also you still growing physically and mentally until 25 on average, so the adolescence in reality tend to be fixed at that period which is more logic and more related to the true adulthood in my opinion

Im turning 21 in 6 months, and I can’t handle the idea of someone reading this in three years and thinking “oh so this guys 23 now”. I didn’t really realize it when I turned 20 but it’s hit me hard recently. There’s no other age before 20 that’s a bigger shift imo any age under 20 your still young, still a boy. Idk I just wish I was younger, still a boy. Not a child or kid but at least an adolescent. 4, 6, 8 ,10 ,12,14,16 and 18 Theres big differences for sure but all still put u in the grouping of “kid” or “boy” 20,22,26,28,34,39,41,45,48,49 all those ages are in different grouping the first group looks at the second group differently to people in their group. I just don’t like it, one more go around, just make me 14,15,16,17,18 again, I would do things differently. If anyone of any age would chime in and just tell me how they view a 20 year old? If ur 15 am I unfathomably far away, am I old? If ur 26 or 66 do you remember being 20 was it different from being 17 how did it feel. I’ll never be there again… at my elementary school back in Spain, on the field with my friends, at my highschool down the road. I’ll never be there again. Would they look at me differently? Tell me to leave, that I don’t belong there anymore, that I’m not wanted there. I sound like a bitch for writing this much. I never really have. It’s just hard for me. “And Suddenly it’s December and I’m not 17 any more, and I haven’t been 17 for a long time” “and one morning I’ll wake up in June but it won’t be summer anymore, not really. And when I go to that place those people won’t be there anymore, and they haven’t been there for a long time, and suddenly it’s June again and I’m not 10 years old anymore and there’s no school in the fall, and there won’t be ever again” Fuck, I wanna cry, just one more go.

That’s me. I remember that I wrote a comment with a different account when I turned 20 and how weird that feels. I‘m 24 now and this comment still exist somewhere and I wonder if someone read it and thought what you described. 20 was meh (not much happened), 25 was much better. I think this video overemphasizes the difference. You won't be expected to suddenly grow up at 20, it's a progressive process. Do well in college, invest in understanding yourself and finding what sorts of things make you happy. Realize early adulthood is about finding the sorts of things that make you passionate, and spend your time doing those things. Also be aware those things will shift with time. Finally, realize you'll lose a lot of friends you had and make new ones through early adulthood. It's totally normal to lose touch with people over time and find new people, and seems to be pretty universal for people in their 20s. This is especially true if you moved away from home. Hope this update helps you know what to expect! Who knows, my perspective might even change in 5-10 years 🤷‍♀️
