Here's the thing: laundry and dishes aren't chores, they're cycles. You clean the stuff to put it away to use it to clean it, etc. I think it's much easier to do them that way

I watched this back when it came out, and I am 18 currently, and this video hit so hard. Last semester, I went to university for physics and math and I was dead the entire way through right from the beginning. Like those two were my favourite subjects, and I was failing. It literally destroyed me. I've never had such a hard time, and everyone around me seemed like they were doing great. Like what was wrong with me? I realized late into the semester that it was okay to just calm down, and work on yourself. I wasnt failing because I was stupid -it was the 'boss' in my head that'd berate me constantly. By the end of the sem, my life got improved when I just let myself be free. Giving myself some love was the only reason I passed. Growing up means you're your own boss, but when that boss hates the shit out of you, you'd remember how nice it was when someone else who cared about you was in control. But I do want my own life, and I guess understanding how to love yourself is apart of adulthood.

When working from home, try to put your workspace in a separate room from your living space. Otherwise, work will always feel physically present around you, which can add to that “I need to work all the time” anxiety. It’s not healthy. Take care of yourself. I love you.

You'll find your passion. I've been lost searching for what has felt like ages, coming to closed doors and missed opportunities. But so long you don't quit looking, you're bound to find something. Maybe try thinking about what truly makes you happy in life, is it money or your own happiness? I pursue music in hopes of being happy and living a fulfilled life, whether I have money or not because I am passionate about it. It took years to muster up the courage to do it, but I promise once you get there you will feel euphoria. Just keep swimming my friend, water might be rough but it's a constant stream down the way.

I remember being in my mid-20s and having no idea, being overwhelmed and afraid of life. But at the same time, I had the most fun ever between 25 and 32. Now that I'm in my mid-30s, I'm more focused on my career, having a nice home and my relationship. On the weekends I hardly go out to have fun, it's more like, "I need to fix my yard, it needs to be ready for summer parties!". But yea... all in all I see life more relaxed. There are still parts that I'm confused or clueless about, but I realized that we all just have no idea about certain areas of life, so just ask around. Someone will know the answer to your problem, just as you have some advice for others.

I really appreciate hearing "it's ok to work on yourself". I've been going to a really pushy high school, and I have really struggled to keep a healthy work balance. I'm either a workaholic, or a huge procrastinator and you can imagine the difficulty of that duality. But then I remind myself thats ok. To any of you starting high school right now, know this: It's to hang out with your friends and do your own thing, but also be responsible abd keep track of key dates. I may not have it perfectly balanced myself but I'm trying, and in the end thats all we can do.

Like how to start a business and open an LLC so that you can minimize what you owe in taxes while also tracking your separate income sources. Plus your business can be used for tons of write-offs which will save you money as well. Then you can start a SEP-IRA to grow your money much faster than a bank without having to make risky stock investments or guessing on crypto-currency

This video is 100% accurate. The only thing he didn't mention is how difficult it is to go outside and be social, like you start losing friends and you have so little money to spend, also less time, not to mention that being burn out makes it really hard to find the energy to socialize, finding love is also very difficult because of how people are viewing relationships nowadays. And then your life starts to revolve around work and coffee and series you're watching.
@mr.boomguy Жыл бұрын

@@mr.boomguy As a young adult who's 19 I'd say that people in our generation have unreasonably high standards in general well atleast from my experience. With social media like tiktok and instagram influencing teens these days, people got their own fked up values and beliefs lol and most of my friends who're in uni would throw the largest fit over the smallest of things cause they're so used to being in their comfort zone that even minor obstacles seem like the end of the world lmao. Relationships require sacrifices and are built upon heaps of trust but idt the majority of this generation would be up for it lmao. This is just my opinion from my life experiences growing up in an international skl w diff cultures but yeah take it w a grain of salt.

Honestly, wish this kind of talk was told in high school too. Most advise middle schoolers get is “the work will get harder” “show up to class” “don’t forget your pencil”, but I wish they would tell you about the social stuff too, and be more honest and realistic. “Hey, that one homework assignment that will take 3 hours to complete is worth only 5 points and you understand the material anyway. Go cherish your time with your friends at their Halloween party, don’t waste your time on that assignment. When y’all go off to college or work, it’ll be harder to see each other. Make sure to have fun and not work yourself to death. Don’t worry about perfection. It’ll be fine.”

I wish they taught you how to function in this society as an adult. They don't teach finance, cooking, or taxes. Instead, they teach history, sociology, and _literature_ of all things. Every person in the country has to learn how to manage their money, make food, and do their own taxes, by themselves or from their parents. I will never understand why such irrelevant information about the world is prioritized over information that is needed by every person in this country to complete tasks that they must do hundreds or thousands of times throughout their life. I just put on a podcast and get going and get some weird simplistic satisfaction from it. Don't get me wrong it's not my favorite thing to do in the whole world, I'd rather be at the gym or playing video games, but I honestly enjoy it. Same with cooking. If I had to give advice to anyone entering adulthood it would be the following: Learn how to enjoy the mundane repetitive maintenance tasks of life, this can be via music, podcasts, whatever, but learn to enjoy those moments or you'll be miserable for a good part of everyday.

As a dude who just entered his early 20’s, I relate hard. It’s weird to see everyone else have their lives together and here I am banging my head against a wall trying to figure out which of the 3 bajillion engineering branches to follow at the same time I’m trying to figure out what lunch meat is the most affordable

Don’t worry, no one has their life tidily together, it just seems like it when you look from the outside, especially because people tend to hide the bad and we tend to focus on the good things on others while focusing on the bad things on our side, which we can’t hide from ourselves (grass is always greener on the other side). But hey, on the plus side we are all lost together, so at least we are never alone :D Also, im an engineer , so good luck picking one of the branches, but don’t worry, choices dont stop there, after you pick one/graduate you’ll again be indecisive about in which are of that branch to work at, especially because of finding a balance between what you like and what actually has job openings. Sounds bad, but it can be a lot of fun if you have right company and mindset along the way, and while initially you might not find at job you like, don’t worry, eventually you’ll, at least I did after a while :D

It’s understandable!! Me I’m almost out of high school and I’m terrified. I’m terrified that I’ll not survive on my own knowing stuff that I wasn’t taught in order to survive the world. ;-;

Pick mechanical, it's like the "I'll figure out what I want to do later" engineer.

Im just turning twenty now. I remember watching all your videos back when I was in middleschool. I'm having a hard time dealing with the transition for some reason, so I randomly searched some key words regarding my anxiety on KZbin and your video popped up. I feel less old remembering those days when I would watch your stuff religiously and this video is helping me cope with the weird feelings I'm having. And yes my beard is probably bigger than yours ❤️
