Turned out very nice. Fun part of woodworking, there is always more than one way to get something done.

That’s true. We came up with at least a dozen more ways while we were working on this. My favorite was (and always will be) the well-trained beaver.

@@ScottWunderWunderWoods haha, train a beaver to carve that for you and you have an excellent KZbin video.

Holy crap Scott, what an amazing project! It was great seeing you yesterday at Woodcraft. I'm curious about the weight that pedestal? It's a monster! I noticed you had a carbide turning tool in one of your shots. How did that work out?
@ScottWunderWunderWoods2 жыл бұрын
It is super heavy and hard to pick up with the rounded edges. We definitely needed the appliance dolly to deliver. We didn’t really use anything except the grinder and sanders. Not sure what the turning tool was doing there. Feeling left out I guess.

Honestly, I didn´t think you guys was gonna make it but it worked! A lot of work, I guess.

It was a lot of work, but fun too. We like figuring things out. Or, at least, trying to figure things out.

I didn't think you had a chance--its a wonder you prevailed---see what I did there the voice over was very good

I still don’t think we have a chance. I’m trying to challenge myself to do the voiceover unedited. Way harder than it sounds. I didn’t do it, by the way.

What size pillow block bearing did you use - I’ve watched this video 100x convincing myself to try this method out because like you I don’t have a lathe large enough. My pedestal base will have a maximum diameter of 12”-14”. Any advice would be appreciated.
@ScottWunderWunderWoods Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it was a 3/4" shaft. My best advice would be to take the time to make a tool rest to support whatever tool you use. Freehanding the tools was very hard to control.

Why didn't you just spin it fast like on a lathe with the grinder? Would it have too much momentum? Im not a woodworker i just like watching these videos.
@ScottWunderWunderWoods2 жыл бұрын
When it spun fast, it wanted to grab and pull more, especially before it was round. The grinder cut better and with more control when it was spinning, but not too fast.

@@ScottWunderWunderWoods oh i see. Looks awsome none the less and the jig was genius nonetheless.
