Man when this notification popped up, I felt like i saw an old friend from far across the airport and i couldn't run fast enough over to hug ya. We missed you Phil! Your videos always inspire me, give me a sense of peace and calm, make me laugh, and make me want to build - wether thats myself or trails. So many other channels are too full of themselves and it just doesn't feel right. Your channel is about the joy that is riding a bike and what it can mean for your lifestyle. Not to mention top tier production quality and coaching that normally people have to pay for - hours on end at that. I'm frustrated to hear about the issues of things not popping up because this is by far my favorite channel. Some comments suggest some other direction but I'm like dude no just be you. Your channel is like going over to a good friends house to hang out and geek on bikes for a Sunday afternoon. Being able to offer this peace and friendship to the world - that is an incredible thing. Thank you for doing what you do and how you do it ✊

I have a 15000 pound electric winch that I built a receiver hitch cradle for with attachment points on the handles. You can wrap a strap around a solid tree and winch a tree or anything stuck or heavy. I use a deep cycle battery that I keep charged. It works great, I moved a huge walnut tree with it yesterday to make a new trail feature!

Hey Phil, drop down that bar on the bottom of the boom on the excavator, when you curl the bucket in that is designed to pinch a log to pick it up, it's called a thumb. Should be a bolt or pin holding it up, check out a clearing video with an excavator you will see it in use. Good luck and love your videos !!

I'm a bit confused, Its a hydraulic thumb and i was using it throughout the whole video except for the things that were either too big or too far away to reach.

KZbin algorithm has been shafting you lately lol. At least you have the best channel name in the business
@SkillsWithPhil3 жыл бұрын
I don't want to blame the algorithm but I would be lying if I said I was happy with how my last few videos have performed. Maybe it's the thumbnails? Maybe people aren't getting notified? Maybe my subscribers just aren't interested anymore? Maybe it's the time of the year? Maybe my videos are just not that good. Or a little bit of all of them? I'm honestly not exactly sure what the real answer is. I know I'm not the most consistent poster, which certainly plays into it, but I have to find a balance between my own mental health and releasing videos.

@@SkillsWithPhil .....I hope I'm not detecting any sort of dejection. If you stopped making videos, I would be absolutely bummed out, and I mean that. I can only speculate, but I think build videos became the thing for a bit there due to COVID, and people are just growing weary of them. It's not a slight to you, and I still enjoy yours, but generally speaking, that could easily be a major cause for it. It still had some riding in it, and it's always amazing to see you on a bike regardless of if it's on your land, or a world famous bike park. PLEASE DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED by any blip on the radar regarding your viewership. When things turn better, you will be out ripping up the trails, and your viewership will go right back up. Chin up dude...the production quality is on par with many who are paying people to do it for them, so just keep doing what you do!!

One thing that is imperative for you to research is a “spring pole”....especially since you’re using equipment to move logs and trees around. It a anomaly that can happen when wood is put under pressure or unknowingly already under pressure....bad things can happen real fast...that is reason all logging machinery has heavy duty metal screening/grating over the cab windows etc. I’ve picked up you like to work extremely safe as I’ve seen you constantly add more ppe to yourself as you’re progressing....check out what I referred to🙌🏼

@SkillsWithPhil3 жыл бұрын
I went back to my old editing style. Last year I avoided doing voice overs because people would always rag on my voice/speech difficulties and it gets a little demoralizing. All the talking was done on camera and people aren't as critical of that for some reason. But as a result the story telling aspect took a bit of a nose dive.
@SemiSendy3 жыл бұрын
@@SkillsWithPhil honestly, I've always found your voice to be awesome. It's part of what makes you...well...you, and you seem like a super rad dude. Jerks will be jerks, and as much as they can get under the skin, fortunately they are just a very vocal minority. The backyard bike park is called Pine Hill in Rutland and its a pretty new set of trails but are super fun(one killer drop too) but needs some more features. The other set of trails is called the green mountain trails. They have bigger features and cabins to stay in. Of course there is killington but that you have to pay for we are more about free.
