Hi Gary, good to see you are still turning👍👍👍 I do end grain hollowing with a carbide cup shape cutter, surprisingly a lot easier and faster than using gouges and scrapers. Good video, thanks

Very nicely done. I like the way the wood grain is in the piece of wood. Thank you for sharing your video.

The question was how do I hold the bowl when finishing the base? I have a vacuum chuck - it gives me versatility and makes things so much easier.

Beautiful piece. My property is loaded with aromatic cedar and as a beginner turner I would like to do end-grain bowls, because the center is so pretty. I was wondering though if you could do a video explaining that piece you’ve e made for your tailstock. It’s almost like a miniature jam chuck. Thanks for the education!!

The live centre cap is easy to make. This one is made to fit a Oneway live centre. It's basically a 1 1/4" X 1 1/4" dowel that has been drilled out (on the lathe) about 1" on one end. In this case using a 3/4" Forstner bit (leaves a little dimple in the middle to help keep things centred) and a piece of closed cell foam glued to the front of it. With this you don't have to remove the centre pin in the live centre. The foam protects the work piece. I made a drawing but there doesn't appear to be a way of attaching it to this reply.

Beautiful man. Wish I wasn't allergic to cedar.

sorry for the long delay. I rarely sell my work but I have on occasion. If somebody really wants a certain piece I'll consider it.

Nice work! How are you holding the bowl on the lathe while finishing the bottom of the bowl?

It's near the beginning of the video. Shortly before I start turning.
