I think you made a good point! When turning right on red you need to remember (make sure there is no "no right turn" sign next to the light) 1. Stop first then check 2. Check traffic coming front the left, check traffic that's about to turn into your lane with green arrow 3. Check pedastrian who may cross the road 4. Check bikers by looking behind your shoulder. I wish someone had taught me this before my driving training. Sometimes people just assume that you should know this from the beginning of the day. I think your video is super helpful.

Some intersections even have a right turn signal but you are still allowed to turn when it’s red if there is no sign saying “no turn on red”. However if it’s red you have to treat it as a stop sign and can’t just roll right through.
@saablazer7 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that if you do turn right on red, to leave enough room. You are only clear if you can accelerate to traffic speed BEFORE the traffic reaches you. If the traffic has to brake because you turned right on red, you either did not have enough room or did not accelerate quickly enough.

@@ConduiteFacile Quick question, if I am turning right with red signal on my side. But then a car on my left from perpendicular traffic is running a yellow light (turning red before that car even reaches me) with no condition preventing that car from stopping safely (i.e., no cars behind), the speed limit of that street is 30 km/h btw. @@franksun4017 By my countries logic, if the car got through before the light turned red, it would be you who's at fault. If they didn't stop safely when they easily could have then they would then take most of the blame.

And always stop at the line, and only creep forward after checking if it’s clear.

Very good job! I love that you included that RTOR is "optional". The cars behind will likely sound their horn if you insist on waiting for green. Ignore them. If a parent is coaching their child to NOT wait, the student should not create extra conflict, but also try to reason with the parent or persuade them to discuss this with their child's instructor or some other authority. In the opinion of most/all examiners, hornblowers are ignorant of the laws and dangers. Test examiners will actually be more impressed if you wait. I count a total of 9 ways to fail the exam, just by attempting a RTOR( police control, and emergency vehicles are seperate. also includes u-turners on the right). Many lane changes that soon follow turning right are also made more difficult when the driver insists on going on red.

It was a red light and I was making sure the coast was clear before making a right turn, then I saw that it was and I also saw drivers from the opposite side of the road, started going straight, for them it changed to green already but on my side it was still red. When I saw the cars going straight I just turned right but first of all it was a one lane road I was turning into that later branched into multiple lanes, and second, I didn't even notice that there was also someone turning left afterwards so I kept turning right while that other person was also trying to turn left and I got honked at. I learned my lesson now completely. Do not only check to see if no one is coming to your left and pedestrians but also check if anyone is trying to turn left.

But here's how it all went down, I was turning right on a red light, I've stopped and checked for incoming traffic. Couple seconds in then I decided to turn. Knowing that the incoming traffic is also on red light and no one was moving. I was in motion and halfway through the entrance, when suddenly the lights turned green for the incoming traffic (I turned right, when the light was still red). This grey SUV appears in my mirror and caused me to stop. The driver got very near me and almost hitting my car on the sides. on 2:58 where the yellow line goes right...isn't this wrong because white arrow on this lane says "straight only"?
@ConduiteFacile7 жыл бұрын
You're right. In that lane you couldn't turn right. It was just to illustrate the situation.

maybe u can reply in case the uploader doesnt reply to this: Wait i got my license and no book or instructor or experience raised these issues. i have only ever checked for the crosswalk and both lanes towards my left before i turn right...u said people make left turns and may enter the lane im turning right into...im supposed to check for them? well there's like always people stopped there so...?? and dont i have the right of way over them?? which mirrors do i check when turning right? why...if im in the right lane who/where would i look for...parked cars? how/why would a biker sneak in unless it's a bike lane? if i check those mirrors/over shoulder, by then, the other stuff i checkced might have cars/people walking etc. again! Do i have to turn right into the first lane? because what if after turning right i know i need to make a left turn soon, can i simply turn right into the 2nd lane so i dont have to change lanes?

Can I make a right turn on a red light when there’s cars driving on the other lanes beside the lane closest to me? or do all lanes lanes have to be clear?
@willc93243 жыл бұрын
Question sir about the bicycle lanes. Should you avoid them on your right turns if you can or should you always gointo them ( when they way is clear) before the turn. I'm in Northern Ontario.

Pretty good and clear video. Im in a different state now thats why im watching this

I almost caused a collision at a right turn on red bc I had checked the left for oncoming cars and I had looked at any cars turning on the opposing lane. But what I had failed to notice was a car making a U-turn into where I wanted to turn. Super scary, but the other car stopped, and no collision happened. And now I definitely know to do all the checks WITH THAT U-TURN LANE before turning. that incident definitely scared the crap out of me though, jeez.

True. Be careful of the U-Turn too.

My question is, I did not see a "no right turn on red" but the white stop line was pretty distant from the turn. Maybe about 12 - 14 ft away

You are superb. Please offer a video on reversing in a corner. It should be technical as usual. Cheers . raj
@ConduiteFacile7 жыл бұрын
We don't do that here often because it's not allowed to reverse into an intersection. But I'll find a spot that is not an intersection where it's allowed and I'll do one because I get asked that a lot.

if there's no one in the walkway, you can use it to creep up for checking, and if it's clear, then you can go.

Thanks for the video.Often , at right turns on red light , there is a car that is going straight ( on my left) and has pulled up far enough , obstructing my sight line . Therefore, I am under the notion that it is not safe to creep forward cause maybe there are pedestrians crossing the street. What would be the wise thing to do in that case?? Thank you in advance.

Here in Floria there are a few intersection where turning right on red is allowed after you have come to a complete stop. NOT A CALIFORNIA ROLL. 😉😁
@aangrox86 жыл бұрын
In some U.S. states, you can turn left on red if both streets are one way.
@ConduiteFacile6 жыл бұрын
True. I think in Mexico you can also do that.

Thanks for your informative videos! I'm getting training to get my G2 licence. My driving instructor's car does not roll forward while in drive gear like all other cars that roll forward without pressing the gas? Could you please tell my what could be the reason. Thanks

Do you have to yield in a turn lane when the light is red, but the turn lane veers off from the main roadway? I have been told two things? The turn lane also has a crosswalk. At what point can a truck proceed?
@fahedjulien6 жыл бұрын
You didn't explain at 2:59 what would happen if you're in the far right lane (the lane that doesn't have an arrow on it)

So if your view is obstructed, do u complete stop and wait little, and move up and stop again? Or do I not have to complete stop once I move up?

so after you pull up to see do you have to stop again or do you just creep up slowly?
@ikeytristen22653 жыл бұрын
at the part 2:46 you said you cant make a turn when its on a red light, you cant because of the panel sign. but then you stated that if you were on the other lane to your left, then you can make a right turn but if you look at the arrow in the road at 2:43 it showing that its an arrow pointing forward so you cant make a right turn there. so why did you say it was okay? very confusing.
@ConduiteFacile3 жыл бұрын
What I meant by that is that if it was a normal intersection, and we were in the lane to the left, and we COULD turn right (no arrow pointing straight on the asphalt and no panel forbidding a right turn on red), that would be a right turn on red. But on the lane I'm in, it's not a right turn, it's going straight but on a curved lane.

This acclimatises Americans to drive through Red Lights, which happens more than twice as often in the US, adding to the death rate on the roads which is more than times ours
