I would not be letting my children near a public school that is going to teach religion, Religious has no educational value. I would also stop paying taxes until religion was out the education systems, Any education system with religion in it is indoctrination not education. To me religion getting into schools is an act of treason.

@@thebonesm1524 But at the same time people being taught religion in schools typically are not punished or isolated for not wanting to learn that particular indoctrination. At least not here in the UK. I was allowed to skip all my religious school lessons as I protested to being taught lies. As a result as per my request I no longer had to sit through those school lessons. At the same time children are being exposed to adult content as part of the LGBTQIA+ - - - - - nonsense. Content that is often too extreme for most children. When the children oppose being shown this content they are branded racist or bigoted. Children and parents have a right to choose what content they are shown in schools. It's also setting a bad example as showing children the infinitely diverse made up genders, promotes the ideas of diversity and helps to segregate children further when we should try to get them to unite together. Being in school is about teaching truth not what people want to make believe. Gender identity is no different from religion in this sense. Keep it out of schools until children are mature enough to understand the dangers and can think for themselves. But that would defeat the point of religion and gender politics getting children when they are vulnerable and impressionable. Try telling your fairy tales to a grown adult who knows better won't have the same result as telling a child who still believe superheroes and fairies still exist.

I think a strong case could be made that public schools should not "teach" _anything_ religious before the age of critical thinking (i.e. age 7 in most people), and after that age only comparative study of religions. If parents want to instil religion into their young and impressionable children then they have that freedom, but they can do it in their own time and not at the taxpayer's expense.
@Letmedoubt
@Letmedoubt 2 ай бұрын
You’re right. Ideally you don’t need public schools at all. This way there is no problem at all. If you want your kids reciting Bible in school - send them to Christian school. If you want them to memorise Quran - there can be Muslim schools. And if you want what’s best for your kids you send them to secular schools focused on math and physics or literature and social sciences.

@amandarhodes4072

@@Letmedoubt But what if that child does not want to be a person of religion you are favouring the rights of the adult over those of the child. Indoctrinating a child without an alternative to turn towards is as good as imprisoning them in a church. While parents have the right to decide what their children are exposed to for their protection they should not have the right to deny them an education in favour of indoctrination based on lies. It should be made illegal to teach children any religion until the age of 15 or even 18. By then the child would have an understanding of the wider world free of the one sided view of religion and if they still want to learn religion then they are welcome to it. Not sure how they would enforce the no under 15 year olds laws but that's up to the governments to figure out.
@Letmedoubt

@@amandarhodes4072 parents are responsible for the wellbeing of their child. Do you want to take that responsibility away? You say we should strip parents of their rights to decide what is best for their children. Ok the who’s going to decide then? Children themselves? Can a 7 year old decide which school if any he or she wants to attend? I’d guess it most likely going to be no school. Don’t think you mean that so don’t tell me about child’s rights. Then who? The government? So some nameless bureaucrat is going to decide what my child is going to be learning. Do you think he loves my kid more than I do? Do you think department of education can know my kid as well as I do? I say stripping parents of their rights is evil. Parents generally love their kids and do what is best for them. There are cases when that isn’t true. Deal with them one at a time. Parents might be mistaken as well as the government. I’d argue it is easier to correct an individual mistake than that of a state. Public schools offer no alternative. Yes kids are dependent on their parents but it is better than being dependent on the state.

Lets teach kids this: Leviticus 26:21-22 Numbers 31:17-18 Although the bible is completely made up, there are some good quotes: Galatians 4:16 So, summary: Judaism, Islam and Christianity are absolutely identical faiths, Abrahamic. Some think Leviticus is the way to go, some think other texts are? It's 2024? Do ALL religious people actually think snakes can talk and the moon is only there to light the night? Really? That is insane. There is no other word. When it's revealed that Santa is really your Mum and Dad struggling, working 9 hours a day to afford you what you want ... religion should be treated the same, it should not be taught to children.

Looks like it's time to force some science into church. "Welcome to Sunday School, children. Turn to page 1 of your bibles, and reading only the first 3 verses, note it says God created a formless earth before light existed. To be clear, that means that a thing created out of the stars existed before the stars did. Can anyone explain this to us? No? Perhaps this is the point at which we should either stop reading this book, or simply understand it as the work of religious myth of the shepherds of the day that it is, and not as a book of actual facts and historic accuracy. Now go outside and play."
