I like how, despite the very funny jokes, there is a deeper thoughtfulness about Anikin and Obi-Wan's philosophies. Interestingly in the star wars lore, activating OR deactivating sabers was a thing and a threat. So some of the Jedi and Sith countered this by not using visible buttons and such on their sabers and instead had the activation button or switch built inside the saber and only they knew where it was so they could activate it by the force.

@knightofeee
@knightofeee Жыл бұрын
@@matiasluukkanen7718 So this is something that is not really directed heavily talked about. But any force user can resist to some extent opposing force actions onto their body or person. But as for your example, if they could crush a saber, why not the neck? You have to take the skill differences, power differences and situation in the live combat to see if these are even possible in the moment. I mean in all of star wars you never really see this kind of stuff. Except one time in a comic where Boba Fett and Vader first met. Vader tried to kill him and Fett saved himself by pulling out a lightsaber he collected and bought himself some time, then Vader just pulled it out of his hand and ended the fight there.
@Art2D2
@Art2D2 Жыл бұрын
@@matiasluukkanen7718 I imagine for the reason that either it's difficult between different force users OR the opponent's saber may come in handy to keep if you win. There's also the matter of "if you do it to me, I'll do it to you" in which case nobody wins and will have to resort to using surroundings. And that uncertainty is why everyone just sticks to a classic duel with occasional tricks.

For those interested, the high ground is just about the worst position you can have in a duel. You can swing at your opponents head, while they can easily block it or just crouch slightly and go to town on your legs which you'll find very hard to defend. Though the prequels had great fight choreographers, they weren't involved with the script. And even if they did say something, Hollywood is notorious for ignoring experts :). They probably remembered hearing that an army on high ground has an advantage, and thought it worked on smaller scale as well, which is an understandable mistake to make.

I’ve always assumed Jedi learn to resist others trying to use the Force to affect them. As in they’ve trained to always let the Force flow through them, and could counteract attempts to use the Force on their person, unless someone gets the drop on them in the midst of multiple different things happening. This is my head canon for why kicks always land instead of.. you know, a leg getting lopped off

Add to that that the reason they construct their own lightsaber is in order to fully attune to it so that it becomes an extension of themselves, and you got a working theory.
@McAster99
@McAster99 Жыл бұрын
That's exactly what they do, and in a battle against another force user there is a constant mental/force battle going of both sides trying to push and pull or telepathically attack each other. A recent book that came out for High Republic even described what was happening during such a fight, where the winner did it because they managed to essentially get the other person to focus so much on trying to prevent being force pushed away they couldn't focus enough to block a punch to the face.
@Ometecuhtli

I think that was the general idea in the -original- real Star Wars films, that the lightsaber is powerful because of the force (that's why Luke only hurts Vader when he hits him and doesn't chop his arm off). They're and extension of a Jedi's powers and whence they're quite heavy and dependant on who's handling it and against whom, unlike later versions that have them appear to be very light and easily manipulated by anybody.

What's funny is how they have to use plot armor and plot holes to make Star wars work Let me explain The Jedi seem to conveniently forget that they have insane telekinetic powers whenever they find a non-force user Example general grievous For any Jedi he would be an easy win Has no force powers All they would have to do is use the force to pick him up and body slam him or use the forest to pull his robotic arms off and his robotic limbs like his legs which would not actually hurt him so they could do it Or they could just use the force to pin him to the ground or strip all the lightsabers or weapons out of his hands Literally do the same thing to a mandalorian They could literally do the same thing to any non-force user Yet and yet we have to put up with this idea that non-force users would stand a chance in a direct confrontation with a Jedi or a force user

A character actually growing up in a game continuously rather than a simple flashback or having a huge timeskip is sort of unique these days, I think. I wonder about the genre of games like this where it seems to be more of a blend and it sort of all collapses into something like a slice of life? Odd, but fun. #giveaway

I got goosebumps when rewatching that small seen between Luke and Vader. Such a nostalgic scene. Luke never gave up on his father

I always told my siblings that it is quite easy to win a lightsaber fight by attacking the handle. I'm interested to see what else the game has to offer. #giveaway

I think my favorite Anakin Shenanigan has to be the one he pulled on the younglings

They mocked him by calling him a master tho, so that was kinda justified.

That slight chuckle after he said, "I am sorry master" I don't know for some reason I laughed hard at that.

You can’t really do that in a duel because of the force bubble around a Jedi while fighting.

This is hilarious but surprisingly wholesome and captures the character in Obi-wan and Anakin well.
