I can fill you in on LUCIA. To start, your illustration is beautiful! Traditionally the gown covers the feet completely and is stark white with no patterns. It’s the chosen (she is voted to be) Lucia that has the candles and all the other women (tärnor) in the procession has either a non lit version of the Lucia’s hairpiece or glitter ( like the ones in christmas trees) This is celebrated everywhere in every school, kindergarten in churches, on national tv. You watch the procession. (They walk slowly in to the room through the croud singing, forming a choir in front of the crowd where a bunch of traditional Lucia and Christmas songs are sung, and if it is I a church, the minister reads from the bible. But everyone celebrates this no matter what your beliefs are. Afterwords you gather, drink mulled wine with almonds and raisins in it, eat gingerbread cookies and Lussebulle. Lusse is a nickname for the event Lucia and bulle means bun. It’s a saffron bun with raisins. It’s celebrated early in the morning before sunrise. We call that time of day “ottan” This time of year whe have 0-5 hours of daylight depending on where in Sweden you live, so candles and regular lighting is constant, but in ceremonies it’s a lot more ambient than practical of course. These challenges are always so much fun! The angel is definitely giving The OA meets Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, while the Krampus/Beast/Christmas Monster feels like he was a mall Santa who was possessed by the spirit of an 18th century serial killer. Thanks, as always, for sharing.

In Denmark we also celebrate the Lucia tradition on the 13th, but it is celebrated a bit more loosely than in sweeden, I think ... it's also in schools, kindergartens and churches etc. (mostly in the morning bc daylight first apears at 9 in the morning, at this time of year. but I have seen it done a lot in the evening too.. the sun goes down before 4 in the evening) but most of the time it's just white sheets sewn together to create the dresses. My sweedish cousins once showed me, that they could buy the crowns and dresses in stores in sweeden. In denmark we just mostly "diy" all the materials xD most places here, we only sing one song which varies in lengh: Nu bæres lyset frem (now the light is brought forth) stolt på din krone (proud on your crown) rundt om i hus og hjem (all around house and home) sangen skal tone (the song shall tone/sound) Nu på Lucia-dag (now on Lucia-day) hilser vort vennelag (greets our friendgroup) Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia (its probably just a translation of the swedish one xD) it's a haunting expireance try searching for "Lucia med Sankt Annæ Pigekor" on yt, to se a pretty version from Denmark anyway! loved the video Al! edit: the times ive walked lucia, we all had to learn a specific walk/step on top of remembering the song

I always enjoy these Pinterest videos and they've inspired me to use Pinterest a bit more to create themes or color palettes for my art especially when I am stuck. I enjoyed all of the designs and that they differ from the traditional holiday themes we see around this time. I think you are a good storyteller and I could honestly see you having some sort of published comic in the future. I know The Average Artist is someone who has created a few comics and she may be someone to look at if creating an official comic ever crosses your mind.

This is more a general comment than about this specific video (although I guess it's relevant) but seeing your how you use alcohol markers really helped them click for me. I really liked the Angel concept, but I also really liked Midnight Mass so

The Lucia drawing is so cute!! And I love the story you came up with for the character! From my own experience, Lucia is mostly celebrated in the morning. (Because it’s pretty much dark all day so time of day doesn’t matter I guess haha) It’s actually a thing a lot of us swedes do as a part of school. Not that you get graded on it or anything haha, but if we wanted to be a part of it we would sign up for it in school and practice there and then we would perform it in front of people (mostly parents of the kids) in a church. We also had small Lucia celebrations in kindergarten infront of teachers. I love the fact that you made a drawing of this tradition! :’)

aaa so excited for the st lucia drawing. i was born on dec 13th and while in my home country we don't celebrate it, i adore that i was born on this holiday! planning on adding lucia as my middle name
