Love your attention to detail. Cabin is looking great. I hear you in regards to measuring with a tape, when there is only one person. Why do they make them so flimsy. Good luck on your build. 🙋🏻‍♀️🇨🇦

Still loving your videos since day one! Keep up the spirits. I am in the finishing steps of my cabin and progress will seem slow some days! Dont get discouraged! Also, i dont know anything about american wiring but here in europe you can just lengthen the cable instead of running new ones? I wired my cabin myself too and know the struggles of planing electrical months ahead of actually building haha
@TheDIYCabinGuy
@TheDIYCabinGuy Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Where are you building in Europe? As far as the electrical wiring, I had to run a new wire because extending what I had in place would have required to splice the wire and you’re not allowed ( I think ) to splice a wire and hide that into a wall. Any splice need to be accessible in an electrical box.
@brotesser1
@brotesser1 Жыл бұрын
@@TheDIYCabinGuy I am building in Germany, so we have very strict laws. The splice has to be accessible all the time either behind a door or a panel. I see now why it was more practical for you to do a new wire. 😂
@TheDIYCabinGuy
@TheDIYCabinGuy Жыл бұрын
@@brotesser1 yes, It was much easier than trying to add another random electrical box to do the splicing. Are you building in the countryside ? What size cabin are you building ?

I am building in a tiny weekendhome-village at a lake! The cabin has 43m2 aka 468sqfeet. Stick framing. 10cm PIR insulation in floor and walls and 12cm on a double pitched flat roof. I am doing flooring and tiling and then i am DONE. Hardest thing i ever did but so very rewarding! Always looking forward to your next Videos!

We found out that everything is taking a lot of time. Nothing is eassy Seems that the weather is better in your area. In our area, it is way cooler and makes our building harder. Hopefully in 2-3 weeks we will finalize the exterior and move the work in the house.... instal a wood stove and be more comfortable tan being in the camper.

Nice to hear! Yes I’m also looking forward to moving to inside work, it should be a little warmer. Thankfully weather should stay in the 40’s/50’s for a few more weeks.

Hopefully your windows will be ok, seeing as normally you'd want to leave a gap between the trim and the window for expansion, seeing as expansion from the trim can put pressure on your windows.

What kind of stain are u using? On the z trim u should have bent the tabs on the side up, so water doesn't run down the sides,also u should have given it a little slope, so water doesn't sit on top of it. and Awesome job on the built!!

Sorry to bug ya went menards here in Missouri other day ,tried to have them look up those cover gaskets and they couldn't find them, they want sure if they were new product, or just sold to regional store in the area ur at, so my question is there a squ number we can look up, or what they call them to find them, really do want to find those if possible, hopefully ur project getting closer to being done, mine seems never ending but will be worth it in,the end

@@raymondward8932 i went back to the receipt, I did get them from menards, here is the info : Carlon® Iberville 2-Gang Vapor Barrier Model Number: BC-VB-2 Carlon® Iberville 1-Gang Vapor Barrier Model Number: BC-VB-1 Carlon® Iberville 3-Gang Vapor Barrier Model Number: BC-VB-3 They all cost about a dollar a piece. Good luck with your project, yes it’s definitely tough, I thought I was going to get this cabin done in one year and here I am, still at it, 2.5 years later… I’m working on the inside now so I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, at least I think so 😂

Looking good but I’d be very surprised if running the exterior outlet directly off the nearby interior outlet will pass inspection. It’s been a long time since i’ve done electrical work but when i did all exterior electrical had to be on circuits separate from anything interior.
@TheDIYCabinGuy
@TheDIYCabinGuy Жыл бұрын
Thanks for bringing this up, you might be right now that I’m thinking about it. All my other outside stuff is on another circuit. I’ll check on it and thankfully can always connect it to that other circuit that I have for my outside stuff. But good to check on it and rectify now rather than waiting for later.
@TheDIYCabinGuy

Based on a basic internet search, it seems like it should be okay as long as I have a GFCI receptacle and waterproof outdoor cover but will check with inspector to make sure.

@@TheDIYCabinGuy Will be interested in what you find out. At the very least it would seem like a best practice given that an exterior outlet is more likely to have issues that could interrupt your interior outlets.

@@inmyimage1081 yes, I went back and connected it to my second circuit which is all of my outdoor receptacles because I wouldn’t want that outlet to trip my interior lights. Thanks !
