Trick mixing, especially Phasing & Doubling Up also sound great with techno. Thank you for making these tutorials Angelo. Especially this one, I’ve had hours of fun chopping up bangin’ tunes. I don’t know why more techno dj’s don’t do tricks like these. Like I said, it’s so much fun! Dave Clarke used to absolutely kill it with doubles of techno tunes on vinyl. I’m 43 & haven’t been out raving in a long time so I don’t know if still does. I’d imagine he still does though.

I find it amazing that humanity found a way to turn skipping records into an ArtForm with its own invented effects and made a way where even more things can be done with music, to me in a weird way it proves that we as human beings have No limitations in what we can make or accomplish.

Just watched the entire tutorial series! Amazing stuff DJ ANGELO. From the proper set-up of equipment in #1 to vinyl vs. mixer scratch techniques, to beat juggling and trick mixing. This 90's club DJ is inspired, pulling the dusty SL1200's off the shelf and ordering a pair of M447's. Thank you for sharing your skill and inspiring others.

Never knew these were considered tricks or a techniques. I just fooled around and if it sounded good I remember and practice it and have used these and more when I was younger. Although I've been out of it for about 23 years. Just got a used DJ controller not to long ago but looking at ascreen and looking a sound waves feel alien to me. It's like I have to find a new ways to do old things and be comfortable using it. Still nothing beats the sound of turntables IMO but I don't have the means to get into it like that. So I use my controller just to fool around and do mini mixes. Glad you have videos like this. I will be watching more of them soon.

You can achieve similar effect as Doubling up with a beatmasher effect on your effect unit/Serato/Traktor program + midi controller...of course simply hitting pads and turning knobs will never be that "showish" for your audience like playing with your records and a crossfader ;)

If working with slower beats 60-80 BPMs, you can kind of do a shuffling double up pattern. You just set the second record slightly less than 1/16th of a beat ahead (i think 16th note triplet is the correct term) and cut over and back on every triplet. Sounds pretty good, but like i said, only works good for slower beats.

That is the e brake, you can adjust how abrupt or how slow pretty much on technics, little bug is, if you have them adjusted too ''tight" the magnets start to reverse polarity and wobble back and forth, kind of sounds like skratching without touching the platter...
