I always like your videos, beavertrapper99 and that LidCam is right handy! Just remember that ya have to pull it down closer over your eyes when ya look at something real close to you. Also, the microphone is made for whispering, so it "over-modulates" a bit if you raise your voice any at all. Great video, felt like I was right there in the boat with you!! Thanks for the tour; I especially liked the beaver dam!

How does this trap work? Are both ends made of net?

Yes both ends are net. One side has elastic rope weaves through it creating a flat funnel into the trap. Like the shape of squinting eye so turtle can squeeze in but not come out. Other end is lose net with drawstring so you can untie and get him out the trap

I often heard that you can eat almost any kind of turtle is that true and have you tried any other than snappers I would appreciate a comment back very interested

Darren Hoffman I do not know of any turtle that you can't eat. My thing is, snappers are the ones that have enough meat to be worth the work to clean them.

what do you compare turtle meat to in taste ?

Turtle does not have a distinctive flavor. Turtle has both red and white meat. The red meat is like most other red meats; while the white meat is delicate like lobster - but much tougher. Turtle meat has to be tenderized to be good to eat, so I usually make a cajun sauce picant with it where the meat takes on the flavor of the sauce. I would describe it as a source of protein that takes on the flavor of the method used to cook it. The primary value of turtle meat to me is that it is a greatly underutilized resource and thus plentiful. In a SHTF situation people will be looking for deer a long time before they look to turtles.

What do you do when you get a turtle covered in leaches? I got one the other day, and I have let him sit in a tub for about a week. I have eaten many turtles, but I have not came across one like this.

Steven Mull I have never caught a turtle covered with leeches so I'm afraid I can't offer any advice. Maybe somebody will read this and chime in with some advice.

Pore salt on them, lots of salt. Good way of getting them off of humans too. Been there, done that.

i can't figure it out I've tried different baits, traps,lines and all i seem to get is red ear sliders i no there's snappers any tips

Try slightly rotted sunfish with a bit of beaver castor.
