The way farmers raise millions of soft-shelled turtles is amazing. I love your video

I love turtles so much it was excruciating to watch the first part. I do understand, it is sad but while they are on a farm, it is a guarantee that they will exist.
@TyTyFarmTV2 ай бұрын
I understand your feelings about your love for turtles. While it’s sad, farming does ensure their survival. How do you think we can balance conservation with humane treatment on farms?
@DimityPockets2 ай бұрын
@TyTyFarmTV Actually, I need to clarify that many, many farms actually harm the species they’re farming (along with the environment). I’ve been studying the fur industry for around 6 years now, and I’ve been studying foxes as a species for 8, and the fur industry does unprecedented damage to the environment, foxes and minks, and even the workers who tan the pelts. There isn’t one party who remains unharmed in the process. I’m not vegan or anything, but fur farms do nothing for conservation.
@TyTyFarmTV2 ай бұрын
@@DimityPockets That's a crucial point. Have you found any alternative farming methods or practices that aim to address these issues and promote better welfare for both animals and the environment?
@DimityPockets2 ай бұрын
@TyTyFarmTV I actually addressed this same thing in my thesis regarding fur farming a year ago, and there is one simple solution: outlawing the practice of fur farming (not the sale of fur, but fur farming in general). There is no possible way to reduce the negative environmental impact that fur farms have, due to the fact that much of the impact is from the animals themselves. All other damaging factors cannot be changed, as we have no alternative chemicals to tan pelts. Due to the fact that America’s fur farms are rapidly closing down, the fact that fur popularity has plummeted and has failed to pick back up, and the fact that fur makes up a negligible part of our economy, there is no need to have the industry continue in America. In addition, the production of faux fur is actually less environmentally harmful, and produces the same quality that one would get from real fur. It’s better for the environment, it’s more cost-efficient, it’s more sustainable (as we saw over Covid, when thousands of fur farm animals were euthanized and wasted), and it better aligns with public demand. We’ve seen many, many designers, brands, and stores go fur free, so fur is quickly losing its place in the industry. Now, I’m not proposing we outlaw trapping or the sale of fur. Neither of such things have the same impact that commercial fur farming have. And again, I’m not vegan, but this has been my main field of study for 8 years. I’m actually a fox owner myself, and they really are fascinating animals.

Finding animals that can be raised for profit is a very interesting aspect of modern agriculture Do you know of any other special animals?
@TyTyFarmTV2 ай бұрын
The idea that any animal that can be farmed for profit will survive highlights an interesting perspective on the relationship between economics and species survival. It suggests that as long as there is a financial incentive, efforts will be made to preserve and even increase the population of those animals. However, this raises some curious questions: What impact does this have on the biodiversity of ecosystems where these animals are farmed? How do economic pressures influence the way these animals are treated and managed? Are there any ethical considerations that come into play when the survival of a species is tied to its profitability?
