Wonder how to use image sequences to animate your textures in Houdini? Or perhaps bring videos in Houdini so that you can add CG elements? In this tutorial I show you how.

Something to note, very important: If you see Warning Cannot have channels which depend on time. When you put in a image sequence with $F. This error will show up, but it apparently does not effect Redshift according to the dev's. Info found on the redshift forums.

3 years late, but thanks a lot for the tutorial. I actually got to this video cuz I was searching exporting camera tracked footage from blender to houdini and the entire Workflow... So please please make such a tutorial, maybe including how project textures (so the grid has the road texture as an example) and how to add shadow catcher in houdini.... Please consider that... As I really couldn't find a single tutorial on KZbin that covers this. Thanks a lot

Nice tutorial. Thanks. I've seen that lot's of people use Cinema 4d for tracking video shots. Is there specific reason why you choose Blender for that task? Other than the price :) I would love to see more video on integration videos and camera tracking. But would be nice if you can target it for people that have zero knowledge of Blender.

Honestly Blender gives most high-end camera trackers a run for their money. I think it's very competitive with something like PFTrack or SynthEyes...and yes, it's free!

Hi! I have a question: how you make it possible with redshift? i'm actually can't make it work! I'm trying to put my img sequence as a emission but it doesnt work with rs material (as any texture as reference by the way) when you plug img sequence into texture it shows an error that it coannot contain channels which depend on time. Also i cant see really glow even with static texture (my guess that problem with render settings, or maybe enviroment ?) I'm using houdini 19 and RS 3.0.62. Can you make a quick tut on same topic but with redshidt workflow? Thx!

@@Rock7skate I sent same sequence in diffuse channel and tweak both emisson weight and gamma parametr in order to achive propper glow effect. I believe that particular case have somthing to to with ACES -color profile. But i'm failed to understand that whole thing)

Houdini is a absolute nightmare why people insist to using this software!?
@RightBrainedTutorials
@RightBrainedTutorials 3 жыл бұрын
There are things that you can do in Houdini that you simply can't in other software. Also, some people actually prefer the whole node-based way of working.

dude, houdini is awesome, just a longer learning curve.
@recfilm1883
@recfilm1883 2 жыл бұрын
I started learning Houdini when it was H9. It was a real nightmare I agree. During those years I kept quiting learning it and after some time I started learning again. My main software was C4d, but since version H16.5 I devoted myself only to Houdini and after a while (a big "while) I began to have a feeling that its "node-based-vex-based" procedural approach is the most natural, that all other DCCs (C4D, Max, Maya, Modo, Blender) are so much limited and awkward, but I agree Houdini doesn't have to be for everyone. For my vfx work it is all I need (and after installing Modeler for Houdini I use it for modelling on a regular basis). (Just a side note: all other 3d software is like a very good tool that makes cool stuff - Houdini is like a brain that makes a factory that makes tools that make cool stuff)
