Thank you so much for this great tutorial series. I have been fooling around FS 2020 since release day and as an XPlane user found a lot of similarity. I was a low hour licensed GA pilot some 60 years ago and gave it up when kids started chewing up my disposable income. The transition to simm flying 20 years ago was fun but in no way close to the real thing. FS 2020 is a different kettle of fish. My original settings and callibrations were as close to default as I could remain. I fumbled around with various tutorials until I stumbled into one of yours. WOW, you should be a teacher or instructer, likely are one. Your preparation, presentation, sequencing and delivery is really top drawer, Cudos! I now have all 10 tutorials saved up and I am now re-installing a fresh install of FS 2020 and will take the time needed to "do it right" with your help and guidance. I run with a PC with Intel i7 8700k, GT Force 1050, 32 MB of DDR4 RAM, on a B365M Pro VH MoBo from MSI. Controls are Microsoft yoke, pedals and throttle quadrant plus a multi function joystick. Main display is a 55 inch 4k tv.

Also, thank you SO MUCH for calling out any key/button you hit to change "whatever" during the tutorial; I hate when you are watching a tutorial and the person assumes you know everything, changes "something", and you wonder how they got there. This was well worth the time to watch!

Yikes, you just answered one of my most pressing questions: Can I map the POV up/down on my joystick to pitch trim? Looks like yes, I can! You made my day :) Only three more nights of sleep ...
@antonvons85594 жыл бұрын
Volker Jansen. Rather than wasting a POV switch, I would recommend using a toggle switch on a throttle (if you have one), I find this more useful. I should add that the best switch for this is a “momentary” type. On the Saitek 55 I have I use the momentary rocker switch on the rear of the Left Throttle.
@volkerjansen39014 жыл бұрын
@@antonvons8559 At the moment I think I will use the POV switch on the throttle to pan my view and the POV switch on the joystick to trim. It seems quite intuitive to me to trim and release pressure on the stick with the same hand. I just bought the Thrustmaster TCA joystick and their TWCS throttle, which has an unbelievable amount of buttons. It even has a mini joystick under the index finger which might be an interesting alternative to the POV button.

Great video. I use older CH Products controls which are not recognized by MSFS2020. I tried to follow your instructions, but it would not work for me. What I had to do was map each button or axis. Mapping a parking brake button normally can be dangerous if you land having forgotten that it's on. So when mapping you could use the 'map by input' feature and use two buttons simultaneously (push one button and hold it then push and release the other button). The first button is the shift button and the other button the actual parking brake. That way you will likely never bump the parking brake ON while flying. Setting up a 'shift' button is an idea for all dangerous commands. Such as dropping a fuel tank or bailing out by parachute in a combat sim.
