The former is 29 degrees 30 minutes, 24 seconds which equals *29 degrees 30.4 minutes* while the latter is, well, *29 degrees 30.24 minutes.* Not that it will make a whole lot of difference (just a few hundred meters), but still.

before watching: i get the geo coordinates in google earth and just set it as the departure point. see the little seach box? just paste the coordinates there straight from google earth. you'll spawn directly above the house. or you could set it as the destination and spawn elsewhere. works the same.

If you want to be exact, you can't just convert seconds to minutes by moving a comma. Probably doesn't make huge changes, but I think the first line should read. N29° 30.41', W98° 19.76'

Much easier: Just search for GPS coordinates (for example: 52°57'47.3"N 5°06'11.8"E). And then click add on the custom icon that appears on the map.

You dont have start from an airport unless you specifically want to for say immersion or takeoff stuff, you can just right click anywhere and set depart from and you will start in the air. I use this a ton to fly over very remote areas or to spawn directly on top of an area where I wanna fly around saves a bit of time. :)

Great tutorial but an even easier way is dropping a pin in Google Maps and it will show coordinates at the bottom of the screen (in this format 55.600136, -1.708798). Copy and paste that into the world map search bar in Flight Simulator and it will create a custom pin for you automatically.

There's a slight mistake in how you represent N29 30.24' W98 19.45' Since the decimals are in minutes, you need to convert 24 seconds into a minute. Just like 24 seconds are 40% of a minute, not 24%, you need to do the same math. So the correct coordinate is N29 30.40' W98 19.75'. This is also verified on google maps.

As long as you have online data turned and photogrammetry turned on, with an active connection, you should be able to see satellite view on the world map, which should give an exact view. You can left click over the place you wish to see in flight and route to it. (setting a custom waypoint) To access satellite view on the world map, you can click "more" at the bottom of the map and then open "filters"...it will have an option for satellite view (and IFR map/blended map)

There's a less fiddly way, if you don't mind getting a little bit cheaty. At the bottom of the Options screen there's a Developers tab and a Developer Mode. Turn that on and load into the sim. Doesn't really matter where, but if you don't want to spawn on the ground, try to make it somewhere the elevation is similar to or above your target. Then you can choose Windows, Teleport Window, then type the lat/lon directly from google maps into the boxes, no conversion required, and hit the Go to LatLon button.

You changed the actual coordinate on the seconds/decimal format, it shouldn't be 30.24, if it's decimal should be something around 30.42, because the decimal format goes up to 99 and the seconds only goes up to 60, the coordinate on decimal format will be slightly off

MS needs to wake up. Internet Explorer is only used once, by everyone on the planet after windows installation: to download chrome, firefox or opera. The only time people use Bing is when they forget it is default search engine in internet explorer, that one time when they are searching for Chrome, Firefox or Opera after windows installation. The graphics setting determines what it will look like after your internet downloads it. So it would be your internet or you have offline data turned on.

no coordinates need to be converted. You can copy the coordinates directly from the address bar of Google Maps in the correct format. After that, in World Map, you just paste the coordinates into the search box.

Not sure if it is a new thing since this post is about a year old, but if you ate in MSFS, just use the world map to find your desired waypoint and left click on it. It will give you the "Add" option and you can set as many waypoints as you like.

Good video. Another and probably easier way is to use Little Nav Map (freeware/shareware) which you should have anyway as it's an excellent moving map display with everything you'd need to fly VFR or IFR. It is navigraph able. Once you have it installed you can create a "custom" or "user" waypoint with lat / long. It will appear on the map and you can fly to it. Additionally, you could create a flightplan in LNM using that waypoint and convert/save it to a MFS flightplan that you can load into the sim and its GPS.

Better way: Enable satellite view from the filter menu (in world map) Find nearby airport Enter the coordinates in search or simply search your home relative to the airport add it as waypoint by clicking on the location Click fly (You will need nav-aid eabled )

probably noted already, but - when converting the minutes and seconds digits to decimal format, it's not just a matter of dropping the decimal and the following number. You have to calculate the difference. For instance, 30 minutes 30 seconds would convert to 30 point 5 minutes, not 30 point 3 minutes. It's something like the difference between dropping a bomb through the guy's bathroom window vrs. dropping it on the neighbor's house. So the guy who owns the house next door is the one who should be irritated.

Okay but am i right to assume that custom waypoint will be a thing in the future because that is a pain in the ass to do all the time when you wanna find a special place?

That actually very impressive... that house, even if it had like 4 polygons, had a really representative texture... I was expecting some random house in a pool of made up houses made by devs just placed there, but you can see its the same house. Impressive.

Even the swimming pools from the neighbours were in there. Cool. I already found my house in the sim 2 weeks ago but it wasn't modeled as it is but no matter still fun.

I hope they'll add the bing maps overlay to the world map, that would make it easier... But couldn't you just set it up in the cockpit? Just put in a custom wp in the garmin with lat/long?

That's really cool. I don't know why you didn't chose the house just south of the one you did pick as it had a pool and would have been way easier to spot but this method clearly works. Really interesting.
