Excelente explicación Felicidades! Siempre trato de resolver los Sudokus antes de ver su desarrollo y en esta ocasión me traumé ya que solo pude colocar 3 números sin poder colocar algún otro, me quedé bloqueado. He visto todos sus videos desde el principio y trato de seguir su metodología pero se me hace una contradicción que nos diga que si una opción solo puede ir en 2 celdas, los anotemos y que si el "little number" va en más de 2 casillas no lo pongamos -en eso estoy de acuerdo- pero luego al analizar todas las técnicas como el TMB o el LCR o la técnica del Cross Meeting y demás; terminamos por colocar en cada casilla TODAS las posibles opciones -lo cual se me hace doble trabajo- entonces, para ello he cambiado la metodología y hoy anoto en cada casilla todas las posibles opciones que van en cada celda, así desde un principio ya me voy fijando si hay un matching pair o un three by three y así me evito el doble trabajo de revisar que opciones como candidatos debo eliminar y sí me funciona esta técnica. Saludos desde la Ciudad de México.

thank you for your comment. Yes the Snyder system works for the beginning stages then later all possible numbers are needed. If your system works that's great. The time may come when a very difficult puzzle will require all the possible numbers.

At the stage of 25:40, where you marked the 3 pairs of 2 numbers in block 4 and 7, I took a slightly different reasoning, which lead to the same elimination cascade. If the (67) cell in block 4 is a 7, the (17) cell has to be 1 in block 7, and therefore the (16) cell becomes a 6, which eliminates vertically all 6 candidates from block 4, where we started by proposing the (67) cell is 7, so there is no place for a 6 left. Therefore, the 7 has to be wrong and the cell has to be a 6, which eliminates the other 6es in box 4 and makes the (16)) in box 7 a 6.

I struggle with locked in numbers to finish a game and ultimately end up doing dry runs to prove our eliminate theories. This tutorial was great but brief. Do you have a tutorial which concentrates specifically on the pivot point (y-wing i think you called it)?

In this video the Finned X wing, and the Pivot technique had me troubles. I couldnt quite follow it. Also couldnt spot the pivot technique well.

spotting the pivot is difficult but valuable.One key is that the pivot can see pincers such that only 3 little numbers are involved. I.e the pivot and pincers only have 3 little numbers. I thought an x-wing occurred when a number (8 in this example) could only exist in 2 spots in a row (in this example) meaning you could remove all other 8s in those two columns? But here, (at ~24:20), there are multiple possible 8s in Row 7. What am I missing??

Yes you are confused as I am talking about a finned x wing. We don't know at this stage of the puzzle what it is going to be, either a finned Xing or a real X wing.

Imagine not having an eraser so all the numbers you write down stay there. What a mess. Well that's the reality of doing Sudoku in a newspaper with a pen. You need to learn to make a mental note of all these things so the end result is a clean set of answers. I'm retired now but through the noughties I'd complete both easy and hard versions in The Metro newspaper within my 20 minute journey to work in London. Now and again I'd need to steal an extra few minutes on a bench outside to finish. I felt it warmed-up my brain for the day ahead. I've never watched a video like this before so it's nice to see all the same methods, techniques and principles deployed here.

HI Keith. Yes it can be messy without an eraser. Using your memory can only go so far. When you are trying very advanced puzzles you need an excellent memory to complete the puzzle without some small numbers. for the finned x-wing, you chose rows 4 and 7 but ignored the 8's in row 8. I do not see why you chose row 7 and did not consider the x-wing to end with row 8? Good luck with your move.

Robin, you mentioned, there is more than one way to boil an egg. I boil eggs in water, what is another way? I boil eggs, stick them in pickle juice and walla, pickled eggs, there yummy with pretzels.

You better be careful, you're getting awfully close to copyright infringement with your opening line there. Better get cracking with the task at hand, seems to be very clearly stolen from cracking the cryptic, who says let's get cracking at the start of every video. I'm sure they haven't copyrighted it. They probably would not even sue you if you outright stole it word for word, but using that term will not magically save your channel there's a reason they're growing at a rate 10 times as fast as yours. The two different styles in which they approach a puzzle give the viewers perspective and the fact that each does a video every day gives you 14 a week minimum. There's no way your channel can keep up with that so stealing their line just makes you look Petty.

Thanks for your concern, but I confess I had to laugh. I've used the expression all my life. My partner, who grew up on a different continent, used it too. The folks who are Cracking the Cryptic are real dynamos and clearly don't need to take an expression out of the English language to ensure their success. Both the language and the smart guys at Cryptic are sturdier than that.

@@Anione111 not exactly, and I did say he was only getting close with his opening line. But their expression is " let's get cracking " because their channel name is cracking the cryptic. They say it at the beginning of every video, immediately before proceeding to start the puzzle. It is almost become a catch phrase. Just because someone has a slogan doesn't mean they own the rights to every word in that slogan, but when strung together in the exact same way, under very similar circumstances, it does seem that you are trying to cash in on sounding like someone bigger than you. Plus I've never seen an episode of Sudoku guy where he used the term in that way, and now that he's struggling and trying to find relevance in the KZbin community he decides to try and sound like the people who are succeeding. It's more sad than anything else
