How do I do loop cuts vertically on JUST the hand? I have a modeled body i'm making and i want to loop cut just the hand vertically but it loop cuts the entire body vertically.
@DaggerDaggerYT Жыл бұрын
I figured it out with a quick google search, hide faces above with H, loop cut hand, then alt H to unhide faces hidden.

except the thumb I had no problem great vid. (the most difficult thing was rotation of fingers because the thumb was rotating to the opposite side than rest of fingers. Maybe if I used the background picture as the tutorial recommended i would get better result but i'm still satisfied with what I have at the end.)

You can see the gray circle thing right, that will appear if your proportional editing is on. Just scroll down your mouse wheel when you see it to decrease the size of the circle. That will allow less areas of the hand to be affected when fattening the loop. Hope this helps!

Is this style of model complex enough to rig?
@ninja_tony3 жыл бұрын
Not quite, but it's a good starting point! If you wanted to rig and animate this hand, you would have to add at least a couple more loop cuts at every knuckle, but this model would definitely get you like 80% of the way there. In general, you just have to make sure you have enough loop cuts to properly bend your mesh at the joints without deforming other areas of the mesh.

@ninja_tony3 жыл бұрын
It looks completely normal to me. Maybe it's just because I'm an artist and have drawn literally thousands of hands in my life, and even studied the medical anatomy of them, but that hand is a lot closer to reality than the majority of model references you see. Hands aren't naturally flat and straight, fingers bend at odd angles and curve inward naturally unless you're intentionally straightening them out, and the thumb in the reference is exactly how a thumb rotates in like 90% of the population. I don't know, maybe you're seeing something I'm not, but it's a completely natural and "normal" looking hand by any definition. I'd say the only anomaly at all is that the middle finger has a bit of an inward bias - more so than you would usually see - but even that's not entirely uncommon.
